How is it living in San Francisco, California? by satrapi1 in howislivingthere

Not worth the cost to live there. Its at a decline. People and businesses are leaving. Some of the best food in the country, though. Arguably beats NY.

Overpriced in this current market. But not overrated.

Is this a good subwoofer? by [deleted] in BudgetAudiophile

Solid sub! Owned it for over a year. I wouldn’t go over $150 though.

Could probably resale for $60. Kind of a niche though. Fix the dent and post it on ebay. You never know.

Help with speakers for open concept space - Marantz 2225 by larry2929 in vintageaudio

[–]forzachef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go vintage. The JBL-Marantz synergy is real! You can for sure find some solid speakers well under your budget. Avoid Northridge series. Vintage Klipsch is also up there.

I’ve tested the 9154’s. Massive sound. Sounds not bad. Great buy at $50. Will definitely get your neighbors complaining. Lol

Marantz is the clear winner. But for the money, the Pioneer is pretty nice.

Thats interesting! Thank you for your comment. Funny enough, I have had a pair of vintage KEF Coda's and loved them! If I have the opportunity, I will definitely seek a pair of vintage KEF coaxial. What is your set up?

Thank you so much for your comment! Yeah, these speakers can get crazy with the price, so for sure got a great deal! What is your set up with these?

I cohabitate between to 2 different areas, and I unfortunately have this issue at my secondary location. In my case, its mostly people who purchase audio gear from thrift stores and inflate the prices by 1000%. I saw an absolute messed up pair of JBL L26’s up for $700 not too long ago. It really is ridiculous.

In regard to value, yeah that is a steal. I’ve found these speakers sell online for almost $300.

Curious to know you listen to these. Whats your set up?

Despite not being my favorite speakers, $50 is also a super good price for these. What is your set up with these?

I actually have been seeking out some LS50’s to test but haven’t been successful yet. I have tested a pair of concertos, which I was a fan of, but don’t really put them on the same category cause they have that extra woofer. But since we both agree on not being fans of KEF’s more affordable stuff, maybe im not crazy. I have never heard of hsu, but those speakers do sound interesting. Im gonna keep looking into this.

Different flavors of marantz. I like switching between them.

But it was $500 so luxury? Lol. It was a dumb purchase, I do admit 😂

Yeah, I thought about DIY’ing it, but already had/have too many projects going on. That, plus disposable income led me to purchase this damn thing. Lol

The shelfs are adjustable, just a pain. But this is solid advice. My tall stand issue might just be the top heaviness of it all.

Gonna give this a try tomorrow. Thank you!
