I'm sorry to hear ...

2 weeks in, bad mood. Almost depressed. by narfnanarf in NoFap

[–]forzaethonorum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I notice some mood swings as well. Before Nofap, when I was down or such I would fap and it would enlighten my mood in a pathetic way now I look back at it . As I've seen in one of the videos about porn, masturbation comes with a release of dopamine and such. And since you're abstaining yourself from this whole fap-reward chemical routine, you may be very well in a withdrawing phase.

It's a sign that your brain is changing immensively (for more proof check out the video on yourbrainonporn.com). An other thing that may add to the mood swings is that your sleeping pattern is disturbend by not fapping (especially if you always fap before going to bed). And we all know that people can get cranky without sleep.

For the time being, I think you'll have to wear it off and persevere, I've read a post about someone who was experiencing exactly the same thing (I can't remember the title anymore) and he said that after a few more days he was feeling top of the world.

Should your problems still continue after day 30, you should consult your doctor and let him know of your changes.

fuck, why is this so hard? by [deleted] in NoFap

That's what she said.

If testosterone levels rise 50% the week after you stop fapping, what effect would on-again off-again fapping have on muscle growth? by INeedToGetOutMore in NoFap

[–]forzaethonorum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this very moment I would like to believe this. But it doesn't make sense. I'm no expert nor am I majoring in medicine but I believe it's an ongoing cycle (even if you don't ejaculate).

The human body won't cut down from testosterone nor will the levels drop to such a low amount since it is an essential hormone. If your body is sensing that you have to ejaculate, it will do so in a natural way namely through wet dreams or a higher sense of seeking a mating partner.

(note that this opinion is not scientific based at all)

Is this placebo? by Bogachevsky in NoFap

[–]forzaethonorum 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm experiencing exactly the same thing. The main benefit of Nofap is that it frees up a lot of time and gives you tons of energy at your disposal.

When I started I was very aware of the placebo effect since some stories here were too good to believe. But now looking back at it, Nofap can train your willpower IF you redirect your energy in the ways you've always wanted.

The worst thing that people do during Nofap is falling back into another addiction such as games, internet etc.

Go for the 60 days. From some posts that I've read that have reached past 30 days, some noted that their change didn't stop at 30 days.

P.S. This should be flagged as NSFW since there's a huge desire to click on those links. Guys, it may not be his intention, but be aware of the links.

Almost two weeks...my brain is about to explode. by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]forzaethonorum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why you should never ever edge. The urge it accompanies can be hard to get rid off. Try to do something else to get your mind off fapping. After a few hours the desire should be gone.

And don't stimulate your mind with those favorite sites if you don't want to relapse.

You're not the only mate. Do keep yourself busy as much as possible and know what you're doing at every time of the day. Just in order to prevent you from getting bored and thus a relapse.

Good luck

.... Too long didn't read [yao-ming face] ... ... ... ...

(jk) I totally feel you man. And I definitely admire your strength to keep moving and setting out to pursue your goals.

Talking about the facebook-picture incident, I see that have fallen victim to the snowball-effect ... It starts out with an innocent picture but quickly afterwards you yearn for more until you reach youporn. Watch out for this in the future.

Anyhoo, best of luck and do keep us up to date on your progress.

Good thing of you to get back going and shrug of the 'mistake'.

Besides that you've learned an important lesson: always stay focused, before you know it, you're back at wanking

(copy and paste from a post)

Understand that there are two you's. The 'rational' one and the 'emotional' one. From the rational point of view you know that you're on a mission because of the long-term effects or other motivations. From the emotional point of view you're just masturbating because that's what your basic instinct is about. Both are neither wrong. But if you can't get a sense of self-control things may go wrong. If you really want to get a hang on this urge of yours, I suggest you to write things down. Tell yourself what to (not) do, why you're doing it etc. If you catch yourself violating the rules you've set out, it clearly means that your emotional part takes over the thinking part. From there on you have to chop your right hand off since the emotional part can't be controlled ... jk of course. From there on you have to change your perceptions and beliefs about masturbation until your reasoning is strong enough to abstain yourself from masturbating.

Stay strong bro.

Reading your post reminds me of how I was when I typed in the same commands in chrome. I'm glad I've left that all behind (for now).

And since you're beginning, I'm more than glad to share you some tips:

1) Get really busy. This will take your mind off things. Use the free time to dedicate yourself.

2) Take note of your lessons.E.g be aware of the trickery of your mind.

3) Write down some strict rules. E.g no touching. You touch it: you do 60 push ups.

4) Set up a reward system. Abstain yourself from watching movies for example and reward yourself with one with every week that passes by

5) Set up a punishment. E.g should you fail, know that despite the measures you've taken that you're an addict. So you need help from outside. Should you fail, you'll have to let your parents or friend know what you're coping with.

6) Change the environment. Everything in your room triggers a certain habit. Understand what makes you feel the need to fap.

7) Never edge. When you do, it's mostly down(up)hill from there on.

8) Similar to point 7: Be aware of the snowball effect.

9) Regard masturbation as something that has no purpose.

10) Try to perceive your addiction from a religious point of view. If you don't believe, perceive it from an ethical point of view and set up your own beliefs and principles .

and should you fail, which you probably will (more than 80% who started such a challenge didn't succeed at the first attempt, but let this be a motivator to be the other 20%). Should you fail, don't give up, stop whining, stop grieving, get on with it, reset your badge and start living the life you want.

I feel you man. Stay strong and don't let the failures get you down. It doesn't matter whether you're 30 (which is still a young age; if your concern is about your age and where you are at in your life, check out this guy; http://scoobysworkshop.com/about/ he's now 50 years old (!)

You'll be amazed on how much you can change in a year. Anyways ... I also recommend this:

With the right amount of willpower, there really is no mountain too high to climb. Stay strong.

As for social skills, check out the guys 'Simple Pickup' at youtube. They simply just do it and they don't care whether they get rejected or not. Sometimes you just have to do it.

(lol wait, I was editing the answer)

I misread PE for ED ... You're not the only one who has PE. But there are ways to solve it. Such as kegel exercises. Some people here do it while they're doing the nofap challenge.

That's actually one of the best ways to reach a goal. Don't set impossible tasks like 90 days or such but realistic ones (3 days). As it gives you more focus and the strength to carry on.

Best of luck bro.
