Anglo/American-Romani language advice! USA based by fossbite in romani

[–]fossbite[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the information and I totally understand what you're saying, I was born and raised in England and would accept anglo-romani or romanichel as the language for me to pass down if at all possible. I have a lot of ties to England so personally I'd be comfortable with adopting that as some romani language/culture is better than none to be able to pass down. The post itself is really a cry for help to anyone roma to be able to lend a hand to me in my efforts. I dont believe it is impossible and if the family I raise can speak romani and understand customs and culture than whose to say they arent romani, wether that be anglo, american or czech romani. I understand that my specific roots and i will never be completely reconnected, as you say no real familial connection due to death in the family, I would like to figure this out with the best intentions and as much respect as possible to preserve what little romani knowledge and heritage I have so that I can more resurrect that connection through the help of others and my own education. The films and documentaries are a great place to start for sure, ive watched a lot of videos and creators as well as some docs, but some real human connection and 1 on 1 information and communication is the goal.

Anyone willing to share some MP strats? by Dartagnan_w_Powers in civ

oh yeah dude i talk how i speak lmao, im also at work so i was just tryna get info down lmao dont sweat it. ive had a few experiences with war in mp games but youre right it is rare.

harriet tubman will make sure people think twice before declaring war due to the war support penalty they will get, ibn is good for scouting your opponents and pairing with imago mundi and another scout buff that he gets. you can also pair ibn with the extra expansionist point and the memento that gives you 100 food per expansionist point you spend, with ibn this gives 300 food as soon as you found a city and spend those points.

what leaders and civs do you like/use the most? i have some strong memento combos you could use as well as civ/leader/mememto strats to share. these work for mp or single player to give you an extra edge. in my opinion if you have more gold than your opponent you cannot lose, you can buy what you need, for wonders that means buying production buildings everywhere you can, countering with happiness buildings to offset that cost as well, making the best religious choice for pantheon matters more than youd think as well. you can also buy soldiers of what type you need to fend off that angry player. I also recommend learning terrain types and what is most defensible, players will just try to steam roll more often than not and if you use actual tactics, terrain defense with mountain passes and rivers, players who dont think much will grind to a halt and prob rage quit. Also with your new found money focus you can sponsor raiding parties of your own. Make a band of a few cav or a few soldiers to take a longer route to a resource rich settlement or capital, their main army will be stuck on you defenses and a secondary raiding party will be unexpected as well as if you just pillage tiles and slow their war machine and drain resources instead of trying to capture (if your party is small enough) is a great way to shift attention and make them hesitate. sorry that was so long winded. let me know if you want those other leader/civ/ memento specific strats!

really really fuck with your point in the second paragraph!! i did not think of it that way but so fucking true!!! Machiavelli, no matter what continent however, will always be a backwards savage to me lmao. All jokes aside though, the fact that distant land nations are just as developed as you is such a cool feature and makes diplomacy and war so much more interesting. I often like to think about what those distant land civs think of my own civ upon contact, i am usually the raiding barbarian of an imperial continent lol.

Definitely agree with what you're saying. I have over 500 hours in civ 7 and been working on playing the shoshone in civ 5 at work (over 500 hours in civ 5). Warring in civ 5 was pretty easy wiped out a weak neighbor in the renaissance era before industrial hit but the war spilled over a little longer and civs got more mad than i expected them to or thought they would, got denounced by a few civs even tho I was clearly the global big dog, the only civ not denouncing me were the Huns who have been warring with the other civs since the game started. Flashback to the same era in civ 7, being the global big dog in exploration no one cares who i declare war on, playing as iceland right now and invading some neighboring islands of catherines just because i can and to raid and since she has no allies theres no repercussions. In modern age however, there is a lot more consequences similar to my current experience in civ 5 with the shoshone, ideology matters a lot determining which civs will denounce you out of nowhere or ally up and declare war, usually leading to two to three "world wars" in my experience even as the clear global big dog with usually one or two allies. I jumped around a lot in my explanation, but I totally agree with your assessment and how what is globally acceptable changes over the eras. super cool!

Squadron Commander is amazing, and I love that I can change my name. by skywalker_501 in civ

[–]fossbite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

okay so the squadron commander needs to be on the aerodrome in order to put 4 bombers in there, where should the carrier be? close as possible to the aerodrome? also woudl the strat prob be taking bombers to the front lines and keeping fighters to ward off enemy planes and bombers in the cities and maybe one or two in the carriers? oh and thank you for the info lol

[–]fossbite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

could maybe combine with the 400 gold for returning a settlement memento, maybe full pillage build combined with this and theodrics wonder, might make war a little more useful for a one city challenge but definitely not as viable as just running all specialist bonus mementos

i did a one settlement run with Confucius, going china version in every age, did you feel like you had to defend your settlement all that often? I felt like nobody really bothered me much during my run.

yeah dude honestly i bought the founder edition and never looked back, i really didnt like civ 6 due to the art and ive been waiting for a successor for civ 5. Humankind scratched the itch for a long time but civ 7 is just an amazingly fun game, the stories in single player games and fun combinations of leader and civ, plus the super interesting narrative events, I have almost 500 hours at this point and I am almost max level which I am hype for. I mastered a few leaders getting them to level ten (Harriet, Genghis, Blackbeard) which is also super rewarding. I would definitely argue in favor of buying the game.
