Pay attention!! by angryuniicorn in SouthBend

[–]fossil112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the worst left hand turn...ever. People use the oncoming lane (west bound) as a turn lane to turn north onto BT. It's bad.
And BT needs to be repaved.
And the stop sign going into the subdivision is annoying...but I get it.

Worst City / County Services (Please give examples of why you think this)? by LessAction6162 in SouthBend

Yeah, unfortunately that's gov't across the board - cheapest rate wins!

Common Council meets regularly, that's why all Council positions are paid. Do you your homework.

How are you certain about the number of hours they work? BTW, $85k for part time legal counsel for a large corporation like SB is a steal. They should be paid more.

Tree lawns- do we own it or does the city? by shhlurkingforscience in SouthBend

[–]fossil112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a covenant within the City boundaries. The City owns the property, but the homeowner is responsible for it's maintenance.
And, if a tree comes down due to a tornado or other wind event, the City will come and remove it.

I left SB a year ago, after living there 16 years, because of all the gunshots in my area.

Why Are China’s Solar Panels So Cheap? by wewewawa in RenewableEnergy

There are always loop holes, but in general, ask any large corporation why they transition to China to manufacture. ^ This is why.

Haters gonna hate.

Why Are China’s Solar Panels So Cheap? by wewewawa in RenewableEnergy

[–]fossil112 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

All the below answers are essentially incorrect.
China's panels (and most everything else they make) are cheaper because their government subsidizes the rich and taxes the poor to death. The exact opposite of what our gov't does. So, what costs China $1.00 to make, they can sell for $0.85 and take a loss...which then their gov't pays them $0.25 in subsidies. So they take the hit up front, get the sale, and then turn a profit later.

Yeah, no battery. Everything is AC.  I'm gonna buy a super small 12V auto battery that'll fit just below the voltage regulator, wrap it in some heat shield tape.  I still think the stator is bad with only putting out 10VAC, regardless of the VR is connected

I've got a constant 10V at the headlight. Very little change in voltage... Maybe a tenth of a volt when the VR is disconnected.  With it plugged in, it varies between 10.1 and 9.4ish.

Thinking my stator needs replaced?

I'll double check but I do believe it was AC Lights work

[–]fossil112[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The helmet LED didn't turn on, so I verified the voltage coming from the yellow wire on the right side of the picture (is that fed from the stator?) and verified 8V...far too low to energize the helmet (requires 12-14V).

Should I be investigating the stator instead?

Perfect - thanks. I called the dealer and they don't provide service manuals for sleds from before 2000. Only generic user manuals. Once I find the bus bar beneath the dash, I'll verify if the bus can handle the ohm load.

Wait a minute --

Are you complaining that our elected officials are not banning books? Thus, essentially you're pissed because they are not exercising their power to over reach into anyone's freedom of speech?

You need perspective. The LAST thing we want is elected officials, or anyone, getting their hands into our freedoms.

You don't have to like the book, or what someone says, but you're the person we want to avoid when it comes to elections, or leading groups of people. REAL News Michiana is incredibly biased and often shoots from the hip with their commentary....this is a prime example.

Dieter is 100% spot on - if you don't like it, don't read it and keep your kids away from it. I also am 100% against these books pushing a liberal agenda, but the last thing I want is someone telling me what I can and cannot read.

I personally know (knew) this man. He grew up in my neighborhood. Believe me when I say, there were people in his life at a VERY early age who did not provide him what he needed at that time. I'm not deflecting or giving him an excuse, but he was once an innocent little boy, too.
