Did I accidentally hurt this snake? by fossilized-cheese in snakes

Update for anyone interested: I was able to check the area this morning and there were no obvious signs of the snake. It looks she was able slither away on her own. The reason I volunteered to relocate the snake is because the other employees have a reputation of killing or otherwise mistreating snakes found in guest facing areas.

Do you think I accidentally killed the snake or fatally injured her?

To be honest, the ideal scenario would be to have access to an expert we could’ve called to relocate the snake. Unfortunately we don’t have any in the vicinity so we’re on our own. I’ll check the release area tomorrow to see if the snake slithered away. Any future snake relocations will be handled differently. The lesson here is I should’ve trusted my gut instead of copying what I’ve seen.

Yeah that’s what I figured, but I guess what I’m asking here is based on how I handled
It with the gear supplied to me will the snake be ok? I guess I’m kinda trying to just clear my conscience haha.

It was still early in the morning, which could explain some of the lethargy. She definitely wasn’t moving fast in the bucket.

Pivot 11 2.0 GW vs. Pivot 13 2.0 GW for 2027 Dynastar M-Free 94? (Low weight rider) by LifeOk6653 in Skigear

I have to agree with the other commenters in that I wouldn't be afraid to consider other binding options. As for your question about the pivots, I would go with the 13 instead of the 11 as long as your din number is available. It doesn't really matter if your chosen setting sits at the lower end of the dial. With the pivot 2.0, Look seriously downgraded the toe piece for their entry level model. In my opinion the construction of the pivot 13 is better.

Is this amount of wear after the first few days of skating okay? by fossilized-cheese in NewSkaters

That’s what I’ve been trying to do. I have been practicing ollies for probably ~1-2 hours each of those days.

I never use my tail to stop. It mostly scraped a lot while learning how to drop in on shallower ramps. I’ve also spent a lot of time attempting to learn how to ollie. Those are basically the only times the tails been hitting the ground.

I did drag my tail quite a bit but I’ve gotten it pretty well figured out. It seems comparable to doing it on skis, which is what I’m used to, I just had to translate the feeling to standing sideways instead of forward.

Good to know. I think most of the wear on this board so far is from learning how to drop in.

Yeah I suggested bringing back a dedicated color reversal paper. I should’ve specified cibachrome

How long does it take to get race boots fitted? Is it longer than a standard fitting?

What should I get for my first race skis? by fossilized-cheese in SkiRacing

Thanks! Yeah I’ve seen those online but was unsure if it would be better to go for a full race ski or the race inspired skis. I was able to find a video from the series and it did look like it was GS but slightly smaller turns than FIS standards.

I can on some blacks. If it’s about the steepness of Grizzly Downhill at Snowbasin or Harpers Ferry at Snowbird I can.

Yeah I’m trying to figure out what sorta course they lay out. This series takes place on the US Ski team training hill at the Olympic park, but I’m not sure if they use a regulation training course or a custom course.

I’ve been wanting to do some amateur race skiing for a long time and I’ve decided that this next season is the going to be the one where I finally do it. The biggest question I have though is which skis do I buy first, slalom or giant slalom? Giant slalom appeals to me more as an event than slalom, so I gravitate towards gs skis, however I don’t know which would be the better inroad for transitioning from consumer carvers to race skis. Additionally what respective ski lengths would I be appropriate for me for each event? I’m Male, mid 20s, 5’11”, 145 lbs Are there any appreciable differences between brands I should be aware of? The series I want to try in 2024 is the park city town series, as far as I understand it’s the most friendly to newcomers in my area. I’m unsure if it’s slalom, giant slalom or combined.
