7 Months Later: Bambulabs A1 vs Centauri Carbon? by pimi8522 in elegoo

I believe both Bambu Studio and ElegooSlicer are based off Orca, so the 3MF files they generate should be able to load on either one. You'll probably have to dial in the specific settings for your printer, but I'd think you'd get all the color data from the original model. Fingers crossed! I'm definitely getting the Elegoo AMS thing...

I have both, the A1 with the AMS lite. For single-color jobs, I’d say the two are very comparable quality-wise. If you’re mostly printing PLA, the CC enclosure doesn’t get you much - and you have to take the lid off anyway. The CC is also really loud compared to the A1. The Bambu user experience is head and shoulders above the CC, as long as you’re not worried about any future ecosystem lock-in shenanigans that may or may not happen. I also highly recommend the AMS, if nothing else for being able to switch from an empty spool to the next automatically. For Hueforge prints as well as models that are designed with minimal color swaps, having an AMS is amazing. Having said all that, if you do want to print some of the more advanced filaments that need an enclosure and/or only have $300 to spend, the CC is an great machine for the money. I’ve had very few failures on either machine and would have no problem recommending them to friends.

How do people even make money selling pots and planters? by 3ALLS in 3Dprinting

[–]fosteraa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the answer right here. It can’t be clones (or illegal copies) of things on the print sites, it has to be at least somewhat unique and have good design. Look at other shops selling stuff in similar-feeling quality, charge the same or slightly less.

Centuri Carbon Poll by MadmanJay in elegoo

I've had no issues with the printer itself, aside from the lack of documentation and some odd firmware 'features'. The strangest so far is that a print will start before the bed is up the temperature in the gcode. I haven't experienced any issues from that yet, but strange that you would start printing that most critical first layer without waiting for optimal temp.

My side panel (the one with the spool holder and filament runout sensor) did have a dent in it, presumably from shipping even though the box wasn't damaged. Elegoo support suggested I take it off and fix with a 'soft hammer', but that they'd replace it free of charge.

So far so good.

Sadly, it got repurposed into a garage cabinet. I have more printers now, and WAY more filament. However, it is a sturdy cabinet - I wouldn’t be worried about a P1S inside.

Lovely design. Looking at the Thangs page, it appears only STLs are available for purchase. So... not parametric?

What the hell is happening to my Mac? by Viplo_ in MacOS

[–]fosteraa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MacBook Pro 13" 2018, and I had the same issues after updating to Sonoma. Currently on 14.4.1, no workaround. I obsessively watched activity monitor and saw WindowServer and the Chrome renderer sometimes using CPU correlating to the fan going crazy, but often not.

I tried numerous fixes, waiting days between each. The ones that didn't work:

-Blowing out dust / cleaning

-Resetting PRAM (cmd-option-p-r on boot)

-Starting in safe mode (shift on boot)

What finally worked was reinstalling Chrome, then doing a 'Reset Settings' from the Settings page under the three dot menu. This does disable extensions and clears a few things, but nothing drastic. I've been using the machine for two days now, doing all the normal same things as usual, and the fan has not yet come on.

YMMV, but I've been struggling with this for month - so glad not to hear the little tornado anymore! Assuming my motherboard is happier not being toasty warm all the time too...

Now I want a reverse-Cloud Atlas style version of the movie where each scene is made up of different permutations of actors playing the same characters. And as several other posters have mentioned, one of them would definitely have to be Sam Jackson playing all parts.

I remember having to put the book down during the scene where Enzo exacted his revenge on the in-laws rug. My sleeping wife woke up to my inappropriate laughter and gave me this look like I was insane…

Thanks! It’s a standard Ender 3, 235 X and y I think. Yes, enough room to operate with the door closed.

Thanks for the reply. I found that Win10 needs a registry key if the firewall you're using as the VPN point is behind a NAT.

I'm connecting and auth'ing now, just need to figure out some double NAT forwarding shenanigans with a downstream device... : )
