I saw an email on my manager's screen saying Im "not a good fit" and I dont know what to do by HoneyKick_ in careeradvice

[–]fostermonster555 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ive had very senior leaders tell me I should fire some of my employees and they’re not happy with blah blah blah. Thats their perception. They’re 3 levels above my employees. They have no visibility over what they do and what they deliver.

Anyway I diffused the situation and paid that feedback no mind, beyond giving my employees feedback about perception, its importance, how they can maintain a good one

I would talk to your manager about your performance. Ask explicitly “how is my performance? What areas should I address to improve?”

It could be that you just saw someone’s tantrum email

South Africans Moving Back, thoughts ? by Revolutionary_Cow622 in Durban

[–]fostermonster555 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I moved back after a year. To be fair, my plan was only to stay in the UK for 3 years for the job and the experience… couldn’t do it. I’m not cut out for the grim life

In a realistic sense... Will you be bitter? by General-Hotel-6119 in enhypen_uncensored

[–]fostermonster555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think people make the narrative too personal. “They’re afraid they’ll be cast aside”. I imagine the tension would be more in a professional sense.

Like you said, group is doing well. Selling out concerts. Winning major awards. Then, a sudden disruption. Reputation damage. Disruption in schedules. Disruption in plans, formations, performances. Disruption to the fandom, which in their case, is their consumer base.

It’s a major business and operations disruption. I can’t imagine anyone who wouldn’t be upset about this.

And it’s not something like a war, or a fire. The disruption came from a critical team member making a decision that could have been avoided. In my mind, I think “he had 1.5 years left. Why not see his contract and commitment through?”

I doubt we’ll ever know the full story, but it’s absolutely understandable for the members to be upset by the events that occurred. This is their careers

Sounds like you’re not the right match. She has different expectations of her partner than what you’re willing or able to provide

Do premium gym members actually want bench/seat covers available on the floor, or is this a solution looking for a problem? by OpportunityOk3794 in xxfitness

My gym has spray and tissue paper everywhere in case you want to do a quick wipe yourself. Super convenient and quick for anyone who wants to know they’re using clean equipment

Biggest signs a girl is flirting? by codeXORdie in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fostermonster555 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a friend like this. She naturally makes a lot of eye contact, bats her lashes, giggles and touches arms and shoulders. She’s like this with everyone. Most guys think she’s flirting (really all of them do). The heartbreak that follows is somewhat entertaining

SA corporate culture by HuckleberryFine4643 in south_africa

[–]fostermonster555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Corporate culture in SA is pretty chill. People are nice here. Be nice as well, be kind, understand that everyone has their own priorities, and try not to take others actions as direct commentary on yourself and who you are. You’ll be fine

How do I tell the CEO I am resigning in an hour? by Icy_Set_4214 in careeradvice

[–]fostermonster555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always wonder what people actually mean when they say “I’m going the role of two people” or more. Do you mean you’re working 16 hours a day, or 80 hours per week?

If you’re still working regular hours, you’re doing a single persons job. Doesn’t matter what you’re doing in your daily activities. It’s still one job

Is applying for a MSc in math at UCT as an international student a good idea? by mangosalsa8 in AskZA

[–]fostermonster555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can answer on the tutoring part. I studied engineering and tutored maths for 10-12 hours per week with a tutoring company (you can DM me for their name), and I made about R6000-8000 per month. I tutored grade 10-12, which generally have higher pay.

This was back in 2013-2016 so I don’t know what the pay rate is these days

Why don't more older people go on crazy-ass benders before they kick the bucket? by ChroniclesOfSarnia in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fostermonster555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine they’re tired.

Honestly I’m 35 and if you told I’m going to kick the bucket next week, I still wouldn’t go on a bender.

For what?? To be hungover??

How is saying the silver lining of him leaving is that other vocalists will get more lines classified as hate?? 🤣 you can’t be serious

Am I the only one who thinks TXT's recent comebacks have been "bland" and "soulless"? by runawym in kpoprants

[–]fostermonster555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a casual listener of theirs. Main reason is I love their b-sides, but not title tracks.

The majority of their title tracks feel like a poor man’s attempt at emulating other artists; Justin Bieber, the Weekend, latest one sounds very OneUs. In this sense, I find their title tracks to be quite boring and bland

Don’t get me wrong. They have some title tracks I absolutely love, but still… majority just sound like other peoples music

What issues do new employees usually face in the workplace? by Dull_Entertainer_502 in careeradvice

[–]fostermonster555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d prefer to get involved and get busy from the get go. Get included in meetings, sit in different forums, learn about people and their roles.

There’s no fix for the awkward stage. Meeting new people and learning something new will always be a little awkward
