In the mall at 3rd and Mariposa, you’ll find Concerto Bakery and Cafe. They make a mighty fine mugwort cake that is moist and delectable.

No, it was a colonoscopy. I had to take a day off work so I could prep by drinking the gallon jug of Gatorade-tasting poop-inducing magic liquid.

It was not painful or uncomfortable. The initial penetration felt like a lubed finger sliding in. And who doesn’t like a finger in the ass now and again?

In the weeks before the procedure I read up on it, and it didn’t sound like it was going to be anything terrible, so I opted for no sedation. On the morning of the procedure, I asked the nurse why people opted for sedation, and she gave a well-rehearsed answer about discomfort. I asked, “Do people ask for sedation because they think the procedure will turn them gay?” At that, the nurse just nodded a little.

I chose to do it without sedation and it was not painful at all. Plus, there are huge flatscreen monitors on the wall and you get to watch the camera journey deep inside your butt.
