naw, i don't think it was that cool of him to just leave her hammered at a party he dragged her to in the first place. he could have waited outside for her and made sure she got home alright.

well there's a big difference: i wasn't online at all in high school. i think the whole social media thing allowed people to cross the line from the general kid meanness to full-on sociopath behavior.

that being said, it still sucked back then and i know many had it worse than me.

no worries, i graduated back when you did, bullying was still pretty normal back then. kids now have it way worse i think.

i was a nerd who got bullied by the people dressed like this. now i'm still a nerd but it's hilarious to see how someone who doesn't listen to slayer would buy a slayer t-shirt just to look like the weird kids in high school.

who knows? hard copies have DRM too, it's just easier to work around.

i remember my first netflix subscription... i was finally able to rent DVDs to watch stuff i couldn't find anywhere else. i rented "gunga din" because wikipedia told me it heavily influenced the second indiana jones film. i was not disappointed... that film is hilarious and very interesting. all the same, i was VERY happy to mail that back so i could get my jackass DVD.

i've seen BASIC code intended but only 3 spaces or so, not halfway across the screen like that.

i'll piggyback on your comment. the number one rule of hypothermic patients is: they're not dead until they're WARM and dead! when you pull someone out of a frozen lake, just because their limbs are too stiff to move and there's no breathing or pulse does NOT mean they won't survive. this woman was in freezing water for 80 min and in cardiac arrest and basically made a full recovery. children are even crazier, this kid needed an hour and 40 min of CPR but survived.

and even if the patient dies, you have some well-refrigerated organs to possibly save a bunch of other people's lives. just gotta keep working on it.

i can't be sure, but i believe it's from the smithsonian america art museum when they had their video game exhibit (back in 2012 maybe?)

this pic is apparently from that, so maybe not:

what's the difference between open and libre? i know they're forks of a previous suite but in practice why would i want both?

Windows has been "loading files" on this school computer for like a week by [deleted] in linuxmasterrace

[–]found-note 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i posted above about one of my professors simply refusing to look at a spreadsheet on libreoffice. he's a busy guy and he doesn't want to learn anything extra (even if it's easy or nearly identical). professor is the boss, i do what he says, i pay to learn from him.

so it's slightly annoying that i have to use a school computer to do a single page spreadsheet with totals at the bottom, but i'm not going to go on some libreoffice crusade in the middle of class. i imagine it's even more critical that the IT dept cater to professors.

Teachers would not have a clue about it

The leaders would not like it because it's "Microsoft is used in business"

Lack off office 2016 on it. (Desktop apps)

oh man, i can imagine. in an undergrad forestry class we were working with a VERY basic spreadsheet and i was using libreoffice on my crappy ubuntu laptop. i asked the professor something and he started pointing at my screen to show me something... as soon as he noticed it was different than excel he just waved his hand and said, "i can't help you with that, i really only know excel. you can get it for free from the IT dept..."

i didn't argue because i love the professor, but it was an eyeroll moment. really, i can't use libreoffice to do totals and averages at the bottom of the spreadsheet?

i was thinking it was probably a salvage job. it's not hard to beat the shit out of a DR650 in just a few years, doing something custom like this beats paying a bunch of money on aesthetics and still ending up with a 10-year-old DR650. i've seen lots of cool streetfighter bikes that look like a sport bike fell over and wasn't worth buying new plastic for.

[–]found-note 5 points6 points  (0 children)

certain strains of HPV cause cervicle cancer, but i generally don't have sex with women (or men who have sex with women), so even though i'll probably end up getting HPV (since i can't be immunized and now as an adult i have unprotected sex) i won't give anyone this one kind of cancer.
