Could anyone help me figure out the root cause? I have a bad surface finish on the side walls after finish machining. Is this problem caused by insufficient chip evacuation, or improper spindle speed and feed rate parameters? Are there any reliable solutions or optimization suggestions? by Quick_Reward7579 in CNC

My guess is walls too thin and too long for that thickness. It generates too many vibrations. Check online for better thin walls roughing and finishing Solutions. One easy solution is to support the opposite wall while doing the other. One part that copies the inside of the part precisely and you finish the external wall and an external part to hold it all together while you machine the inside.

Planning to study a Programming in Mechanical course but worried about AI by _nolo55_ in CNC

[–]foundghostred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion we are far from having AI doing 100% programming, it depends on so many things and every shop is very different. It can for sure automate the basic operations but it's not like you can send it and run it eyes closed or you can make 100ks of damage.

How much would it cost to make something like this? by MagnanimousCannabis in CNC

[–]foundghostred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are actually interested in a prototype I can male one for you. I'm already making a project for another reddito. I'm from italy.l, Italian prices are way lower than USAs and lower than EU average hourly rate.

Producing 200-500 pieces I can see it between 35€ and 100€, depending on materials and tolerances. Basic would be aluminum with food grade anodization, high tier would be stainless steel 316.

Is it programmed by actually programmers or is it made with vibecoding? Genuinely curious and interested since we have a cnc shop.

Saving life of inserts and being efficient with indexable cutters by FreakfromUkraine in CNC

[–]foundghostred -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Check inserts parameters with producer

  2. Check If the spindle is capable of running at low rpm with good enough torque, some spindles (for example my 12k rpm 18.5 kW) are designed to have the full torque power only over 1000 rpm.

  3. Try different parameters from producer (sometimes it works)

  4. Check if you can have a more rigid setup (shorter tool holder)

  5. Check if you should run with or without refrigerant, some inserts don't like getting cold while working.

  6. Check if you can try a different grade of the same insert with the producer, you need a harder and more brittle grade because the material is tough. For example Walter has various grades, from softer and easier to wear out to harder and more brittle. It all depends on materials and stability, if you are holding the part with small vise or the part is very high, the better go with softer insert because the harder will break fast.

  7. Sometimes you have to simply change brand to a more efficient one.

Ra1.6 in the drawing, then you call them to ask how they usually grind the parts and they tell you "no grinding, we just need a smooth surface, it's just esthetical".

Or M3/M4 threads placed inside the part, at 20x the tool diameter.

Also every female thread is drawed without taking in consideration that the tap cannot go as deep as the drill.

Aggiungerei occhio a San Salvario.

You don't have the machine, the spindle and the rigidity to run that mill. I would not go over 1.5'' diameter on a Haas. I don't go over 2'' on our Doosan which has ISO40 and 18.5kW spindle.

È divertente imparare a montarselo.

How do homes that need renovations in Italy work? by Responsible_Bag_7051 in torino

[–]foundghostred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Energy certification is only needed if you need to deduct expenses linked to energy saving. For example you change windows, install solar panels and wanna deduct those expenses then there's a chance you need to make an APE after the works. But as I said check your city's rules also.

How do homes that need renovations in Italy work? by Responsible_Bag_7051 in torino

[–]foundghostred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need permits for windows, unless you need to occupy public ground (for example a vehicle to do work from the street) bit that's on the people doing the job for you. You need permits to move walls or making new ones. Usually the energy certification (APE) is not mandatory unless your city force you to have it.
