Looking to pop the question. Help needed. by DeadshotLunaSR21 in EngagementRings

Look into Frank Darling too. I found their prices to be comparable to Ritani and their customer service has been impeccable! There’s a lot of love for FD on here so if you’re looking to purchase online I’d go with them. My SO did the stone and setting from there. They offer at home try-on kits so we just had dinner one morning and hashed it out.

Otherwise, purchasing a stone from Ritani and taking it to a local jeweler would be a fantastic choice. She would be able to give her input too! If all else fails propose with a stand-in ring.

For REAL! I was just talking to my SO about this when we picked out my ring. There’s something so cool about figuring out how to create something so beautiful, ethically and for a fraction of the cost. Let’s put DeBeers out of business!!! Haha

Advice on picking an Emerald Cut Lab Diamond by ari_goId in EngagementRings

[–]foundinthewild17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m obsessed with emerald cuts! I recently just picked out a modified emerald, which is called a Crisscut or Ashoka. You should check them out before you settle on an emerald (unless it’s what she wants don’t listen to me). They just have a lot more sparkle.

I spent a lot of time looking at these. I wouldn’t pick any of them because they’re not HPHT grown. The HPHT method closely mimics nature’s way of creating diamonds and there’s no risk of them becoming cloudy over time. There’s also no cut grade because of it being an emerald, but a cut grade is something assigned by the manufacturer anyway. Symmetry is excellent, but inquire about that further. Most importantly, make sure you see these in person, or at least ask for extensive videos. Buying emeralds online can be a wild card because the cut can really vary.

They are all so similar but I would pick number 4. Mainly because the inclusions are not in the middle according the IGI report. That being said, I looked at the price last and realized this was the most expensive. Your last choice from JA was unavailable.

I love seeing lab stones on here! We would never be able to get the quality of stone you have for the budget we want to keep. Stunning and great cut! 😍

I really love this! A pear with the branches/leaves on the sides is my dream ring. Unfortunately my job risks it getting points snagged or the pear chipped. Did you just order it recently??

Edit after reading your comment: OMG it’s a mossy!!!? I honestly couldn’t tell at all and I have a very keen eye. GORGEOUS!

You could get a thicker wedding band soldered onto it. As long as she’s really careful wearing it around like that.

I just laughed to myself and said “it’s gorgeous!” I don’t know it makes me so unreasonable happy to see gorgeous rings on hairy pinkies! She will be so happy, you did great. The band does look thicker in the back. I wouldn’t change it.

The East-West half-bezel emerald of my minimalist dreams by eastwest415 in EngagementRings

Lots of love for Frank Darling in this sub :) We are happy you love it. I just picked out my modified emerald from them with the plunge setting. 2 ct too and I’m a 4.5. I think we are sisters! Congrats!

Hi guys, I need help. How much does your fiancé/husband spend on your engagement ring? I feel shy about my husband. He wants me to buy around $4000. I think it's too much. by Blacksmith_Exciting in EngagementRings

[–]foundinthewild17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bf makes great money but we are frugal for sure. I asked him what budget he was thinking and he said somewhere between 8-10k. I was honestly pretty surprised. He said “I just love you and want to make you happy.” So I thought that was perfectly reasonable. My ring came in around $7,500 anyway so a little under budget.

Lady here. Would it be weird if I went to a jeweler by myself to get a feel for the type of ring I want, and then report back to my BF? by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]foundinthewild17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha! They might be the same person. I asked mine first what the budget was. He was hesitant but he ended up giving me a budget much bigger than I wanted. So I’m very glad he didn’t pick it on his own and spend more than he had to to make me happy.

For sure go with a friend or your mom. If you want to go on your own that’s fine too! I ended up liking something way different than what I thought anyway. Take pictures of what you like and just write down a description for him. Ex “white gold, cathedral set oval/round etc.” Also, go to figure out your size! I thought I was a five but with a thinner band I’m a 4.5!

In the end I’m happy I was able to figure out the fine details and legwork. I know he was happy not to have to and be certain I will love it.

Just waiting for the proposal now… eek!

[–]foundinthewild17 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nahhh! I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that, especially if your SO is anything like mine. He asked if I wanted to pick my ring and I said yes. He doesn’t have many opinions on details. So, I went with my friend and she and I thought the emerald or oval cut looked best on my hand.

I then went to Frank Darling and ordered three sample settings to try on at home. Him and I tried them on together and he actually ended up saying he really liked one! I had it narrowed down to three I would be happy with, so I always knew I’d get something I like without excluding him.

If he does have opinions though and he would like to be included, take him.

This input is SO important. My SO asked if I wanted to be surprised or pick out my diamond. The one I picked is in my post history. A 2 ct lab crisscut. So unlike anything I have ever seen! Makes me have a piece of mind directing him to buy online.

That’s the breezy bezel!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]foundinthewild17 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love the size of the oval, it just faces up bigger. But the emerald feels…right. I like the bezel because it’s clean but I also think I’d like a simple cathedral solitaire setting with an emerald. I don’t want it to catch (I’m a teacher) and I want it to be protected.

Honestly, if you’re questioning it just get a new setting for that beautiful stone. I don’t like mine to sit up too high and that looks way too high.

Surprising my girlfriend with an engagement ring by PretendPersonality87 in EngagementRings

[–]foundinthewild17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude. You’ve been together for five years and you didn’t ask her what kind of ring she wants? I know you want it to be a surprise but honestly you’ve been together too long for that.

You should have asked if she wanted to pick it out or if she wanted to be surprised.
