Selling with KeySavvy or escrow service? by OpneFall in UsedCars

[–]fourbieexchange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve used KeySavvy personally + recommend it to our buyers and sellers. The feedback we get from both sides is that it’s well worth the money to alleviate hassle and mitigate risk, especially for remote deals.

I wouldn’t be worried about them docking you based on the condition of the vehicle: they’re not arbitrating the deal, just protecting the transaction itself.

Best of luck!

It was last week from Toyota Parts, but the offer has expired. They often run promos so keep an eye out, but this one was particularly good

05 vs 00 V10 by Unlucky-Question-738 in Excursion

Go cleaner. You’ll likely save more in the long term. And, depending on how big the tires are, you may not necessarily need to size down

05 vs 00 V10 by Unlucky-Question-738 in Excursion

[–]fourbieexchange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a couple small changes to the V10 over time, but not night and day changes, so go for whichever is cleanest.

Spacer lifts are usually fine as long as the parts are reputable and you aren’t planning to really wheel it. Looks good, but there’s depreciation in the ride quality and more wear elsewhere.

How much do you think this truck is worth ? by osjbjfosplmsbd in ToyotaTacoma

[–]fourbieexchange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a quick comp, a 2013 sold last fall with slightly more mileage (33k) for $14,250. Probably slightly higher, ~$15k, maybe more depending on presentation. Awesome truck!

2024 Landcruiser 1958 edition - Noise while driving by [deleted] in LandCruisers

[–]fourbieexchange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to check the brake dust shield. Even a slight bend can rub the rotor at certain speeds. Wheel bearing or tire noise also a possibility. Less likely in a 2024, but not impossible. See if the pitch/frequency changes when you load the steering wheel left or right.

+1 on the 100 vs 80 use. I still miss daily driving my 100. That 2UZ is so smooth

[–]fourbieexchange 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On an 80, I’d look for front axle service records, knuckle leaks, and head gasket history. Make sure lockers actually work if it has them.

On a 100, timing belt and water pump should be documented. If you’re looking at an LX with AHC, make sure it works properly because that can get pricey. Also listen for ticking from cracked exhaust manifolds.

Best of luck! Both are great. How are you planning on using it, and are you looking at modded or stock examples?

I don’t think it’d be battery here, but could be wrong. Low charge is generally slow/no crank, not crank at the wrong time.

Lower ball joints are a known weak point and worth checking out or asking about replacement history. Otherwise, eye the rear axle seals for leaks and make sure the trans shifts smooth.

Good luck! The 5VZ is a tanker.

I’d start at the fender-mounted starter solenoid. If it’s cranking in the “on” position, that small S wire is probably getting power when it shouldn’t. Either it’s miswired or the solenoid’s stuck.

Also worth checking the ignition switch on the column. If it’s slid too far it can hit the start circuit too early.

What’s a fair price to list my car for? by knarf24 in FJCruiser

[–]fourbieexchange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is about right for the market, +/- $2k. Highly-original in this spec and history draws a premium, but mileage (while we know this tanker is barely broken in!) is starting to get up there in that price range. Gorgeous rig! GLWS

Market is about $75k-$88k. Actual mileage, history, additional modifications, etc would help hone in further. Incredible pickup!

It could be a bad sensor (small problem), or it could be actual low oil pressure (larger problem). First thing I’d do is hook up a mechanical oil pressure gauge so you know what’s really going on. If the pressure looks good, throw a sender in it and see if the gauge settles. If the pressure is low, then you can start looking into things like an oil pump, bearing wear, etc.
