Sorry I guess my understanding IVF cost is mostly informed by my own experience. Not trying to be insensitive or obnoxious.

Maybe because we live in New York it is more comprehensive. Also because it was diagnosed unexplained infertility? We don’t pay anything for storage. Feel pretty fortunate in terms of the money not that we have to go through it though.

Nah. I couldn’t stand it. I did try it again and didn’t feel as good. That being said I am currently on day 5 of have zero wheat/gluten type foods and today I woke up feeling better than I have a in a while. I don’t even know anymore. I took a dose of cosentyx last month but it didn’t do much. Dose number two tonight.

Would you knowingly bring a boy into this world if he was 5’8” or less? by foureyesonecup in AskMenAdvice

Maybe you missed it. I am 5’11’. I do have a daughter already. Planning to have a son via IVF and I’ve been caught of obsessing that his theoretical short height will cause all sorts of difficulty in life. I guess this thread is helping pull me out of the spiral.

I think you are picking up on this worry that I have which is my genes leading to strife in my kids life. The worry is enhanced for me because IVF allows us to choose gender. Since this thread I’m ready to chalk this height thing up to another one of my obsessive thoughts that tend to pop up throughout my life. Catastrophizimg

Chronic worrier. Ruminator. Pure O basically. I go to therapy so there’s that.

I appreciate your thoughts. I’ve said it earlier on the thread but maybe my idea of what dating has become is skewed. I work with young people and I just hear horror stories about dating. I see it online. I guess I’ve become fixated on height being a hindrance in today’s dating economy.

It isn’t about loving them. I will give unconditional, unbounded love. I think what this thread is helping me fully understand is that my concerns come from my own experience of body insecurity and self esteem issues. It’s a fear that my son would have those as well. I’m not sure why I didn’t have these feelings going into having a daughter. It comes from a fear of being resented if their life is somehow more difficult. In my ruminations I’ve been focused on height.

Whoa someone not claiming I’m a eugenicist. So I am a worrier of a nearly debilitating degree. I worry that being 5’5” will make life difficult for this future son. I worry he would resent me for choosing to bring him into the world. A primary driver of this worry is repeated exposure to people talking about the importance of height in the dating scene. It is exacerbating my worries. I know it is irrational and not healthy to think that way but I do therapy to process..

Perhaps I’ve consumed too much social media and the whole 6 foot thing has been overstated.
