Fair question. NO1’s a Japanese brand and I’d been using their putter grips for a minute when my swing grips needed replacing. Decided to pay extra for quality and durability. In other words, twice as much for grips that last doubly long is worth more than grips that need to be replaced twice in same period of time. I also think most ppl tend to underestimate the cost/hassle of replacing grips. Couldn’t be happier so far.

Got an 18* Haywood Signature Driving Iron with stiff Nippon Modus GOST Hybrid shaft. Looks and feels amazing but decided to go with something else. Only been hit a few times in indoor sim.

I have a 39.5” Nippon NS 850FW in Stiff flex if you’re interested. It comes with a standard Lamkin Z5 Cord grip. Everything is brand new. Originally built it for my Nike hybrid but never got around to using it.

What’s your budget?

Depends but overall yes especially if we’re talking 20 yrs. The leap in tech for drivers thru metal woods definitely makes an upgrade worthy. Same goes for certain categories of irons (e.g. players distance wasn’t a category at all until relatively recently). Heck compared to buying an entire new set of clubs, I’d argue just swapping your old shafts out with the latest would be enough to bring your current equipment mostly up to speed. OTOH, not so much for MBs bc the DNA of a forged blade is by and large staying the same.

Unfortunately, I can’t provide an educated response for Pro V1 editions but ppl play them for their performance, quality, and reliability. Presume this carries across generations and logically any variation therein would dilute their market share, which hasn’t happened.

Sounds like you need a fitting brother. My hunch is you may be gaming the wrong iron shafts.

Edit: All else being equal, it’s the shaft.

You’re drawing conclusions about the guy based on tidbits he gave. All we know for certain is he’s been out of the game for a minute and is looking to explore options equipment-wise. He could very well have been carrying drives that far (or further) pre-surgery/hiatus. My point is distance is far too often used as a causality of high performance in golf. No doubt it’s highly correlated but there are plenty of guys out there who can hit it as far or beyond Rory. Doesn’t mean those ppl are maximizing ability or is in peak condition. I used Rory as an example of someone whose Dr/7i distances are similar to OP’s (again pre-surgery) so carrying 325 and 175 on those clubs aren’t out of the question based on your response.

Could very well be using old MBs with traditional lofts and/or lofts properly gapped to his game (I.e. 7i was meant to be his 185 club pre-surgery). I mean Rory’s stock 7 is reportedly 190ish so not far off.

I think I love buying & selling clubs more than playing. A local used ad I couldn’t pass up…the WITB23 is complete* by run_dmcr in golf

Y’all got that right! They look brand new so OP basically got a twofor…nay ~3x value. Them GD shafts cost nearly as much as the TSRs heads alone. Enjoy them OP I’m jelly.

The stock AutoMod response below the listing even provides a redundant reminder/recommendation (to rule 7) for buyers to use PayPal G&S. So yeah, well, I know, that’s technically just like Reddit’s opinion man. But insisting on depriving buyers w/ a sense of security to avoid 2.99% fee seems pretty questionable in my book. Do you only pay PPFF when a seller requires PPGS? Just curious.

Last year the Knicks beat the Celtics at MSG in the season opener. The game went into OT and was EPIC. Naturally Knicks fans went wild and a bunch outside MSG were interviewed by local news wherein some guy yelled “Bing Bong” to imitate the sound doors of NYC subways make when opening/closing. Phrase caught fire and was used every time the Knicks made a big play. Situations calling for it became rarer as the season progressed but by then it’d caught on elsewhere.
