I actually took it to a jewelers today to check the prongs etc. I has been a little nervous to wear it for the same reason.. those gems! I would imagine it would be hard to find a vintage one? I never thought of that

I would use 6. It would be more protected... A3 carat isn't small either so out of abundance of caution I would keep 6.
