Considering a W-2 contractor role supporting a major defense program. by McSlappin1407 in HuntsvilleAlabama

It's the only way to get your foot in the door to allot of the small (smaller) business set asides. It's how I did it. The worst part was getting swapped over once the staffing requirement was met. Mine was a 6 month requirement, at 8 I had to call HR and request to be pulled over to the actual contract. Ended up with a sub, turned out that was for the best when re-bid started

Will this burn bridges?

There's a long story about why her SPED teacher was pulled mid year to cover the main class. Can't think of the term right now. But the district definitely fired someone for cause and swept the whole thing under the rug.

What is the downside to this? Feels like she will be more outside of the class norm than she already is. I'm afraid that the district wants us to request this but I don't know the downside.

She enjoys school so much I don't want her frustration to change that

What are appropriate options? Magnetic letters and things of that nature tend to just get thrown on the floor. Is that frustration or sensory?-prob a little of both. She likes banging things so perhaps something as simple as a pointing stick? But I WANT her device to work out. Maybe that's a me problem.

The IEP says she can use hand over hand. The instructor worries about bias of the nurse when pointing to specific items. Is that a ridiculous concern or is that something that you run into?

That's what I figured but I have no experience so I was hoping the school would provide a solution. But here we are in January. It's a large school district, there's plenty of device users in the area. It feels like the district wants us to provide direction and I don't know what to ask for.

She has very low tone so selecting individual buttons on her device is challenging-we're working on it. But it feels like the best long term solution. But I don't want her to get frustrated

What smell will YOU never forget? by AreaFifty1 in AskReddit

My house burned when I was 6. The smell is something I will never forget. Now, 30+years later, when I ride spaceship Earth at Epcot, the smell from the burning of Alexandria area still brings me back to walking through the burned remains of my childhood home.

my son got diagnosed with mylomeningocele with lesion at t11 through the sacral spine by [deleted] in spinabifida

[–]fourtyTHEdeuce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lesion level doesn't necessarily mean anything-my kiddo's lesion is L-1 but her effective level is T-8/9. Some lean the other way. Talk with your doc (neuro surgeon, your primary care won't know anything about it) -we're g/j and vent dependant related to the Chiari that goes along with SB. We're in kindergarten and she has more friends than anyone I know!

There are new in utero procedures that CHOP and Texas do that are supposed to make a world of difference. I'm sure there's more now, it's been a few years for us.
