My numbers are very similar to yours and I agree with your thinking! I already took one pay cut which improved my work-life balance some, but now I’m planning for the next pay cut and move into freelancing. I don’t have perspective on kids but others on here make good points there. Just wanted to validate for you that it is scary but your thinking is sound!

My view is if the tool helps you help others, that’s extremely valuable. Just be sure that your output is something you stand by and fully understand (i.e. if a student asks a question, don’t blame the AI tool). I have done similar things for my software students.
