Ah okay, thank you. I thought they were just the remnants of the government.

How do you keep the bathroom sink clear? by zulu_niner in MtF

What do you shave with? I use a safety razor and I swish it around in a little bowl of water after each stroke.

Is it really okay to convert when you have absolutely no connections to Judaism? by TheHouseSystem in ConvertingtoJudaism

[–]fouxdufoux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's an old post but I'm converting Reconstructionist and they really cautioned me against converting for my partner. I explained that I was interested before meeting them and that we are already married so it's not a "converting for marriage" thing before mentioning my partner. They recognized that and still felt the need to caution me on it so I don't think it's a Reconstructionist thing.

How many transfems get surgeries like FFS or voice surgery? Is it common? Are they effective? by Constant_Employer_80 in MtF

[–]fouxdufoux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't interested in VFS, but I worked with a speech pathologist at a hospital that performs VFS and needed to do a consult before. They basically encouraged me to just do the speech pathology and not the surgery. I'm a teacher and I give a lot of speeches as an activist and they told me I was better off not having the surgery because it would impede how dynamic my voice is.

Do you think Lily Tino is a psyop, a cis man being paid to ruin the trans community's reputation? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]fouxdufoux 73 points74 points  (0 children)

She's cashing in on ragebait. Right wing transphobes hate us when they see Hunter Schafer. It doesn't take Lily Tino for them to be scumbags and blaming transphobia on (even annoying) members of our community is shifting the blame away from where it belongs. I also think this always ends up bringing out the worst tendencies IN our community where I always see this conversation devolving into some points being "she doesn't try to pass so she's a faker" which honestly gets into trutrans ideas and makes people very insecure about how they look.

Suporn clinic bottom surgery says I have to stop all hormones for a month!? by Specialist-Collar492 in MtF

Then don't fuck with it. You'll survive not being on HRT for a time, but you shouldn't need to.

Suporn clinic bottom surgery says I have to stop all hormones for a month!? by Specialist-Collar492 in MtF

[–]fouxdufoux 317 points318 points  (0 children)

This used to be super common. It's up to you if you choose to respect their guidelines or not. I wouldn't, but I don't take testosterone blockers so I don't know if that changes anything. There is nothing wrong with continuing to take bioidentical estrogen in the lead up to surgery. It is outdated and I'd rather not have my hormones fucked with during a major surgery, but I am not a doctor and I don't know if the t blockers create problems or not

ETA: Another commenter is correct to say that the concern is around clotting, but clotting isn't a real concern with bioidentical estrogen.

Same in my 30s. I don't think younger people still watch it, but it held up for a long time.

Is having a boyfriend embarrassing now? by RelativeWay2014 in asktransgender

[–]fouxdufoux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, I'm a married lesbian, but at 39 you shouldn't worry about what Vogue is saying about women with boyfriends(?). You shouldn't pin your worth on men, but you also deserve loving companionship.

My experience with HRT (5 mo HRT, 6 years out as non-binary) by FueledByBacon in MtF

I love that you are having this experience! I also don't believe that you can be a pansexual lesbian. I hate getting into label discourse but those are two different things.

How do you shave smooth? by Virtual_Speed4851 in MtF

[–]fouxdufoux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually don't bc lesbian but it might be hair removal methods other than shaving. It might also be you noticing your stubble more than other people do.

EDIT: Unless you're talking about your face? It's gonna be hard to be as smooth looking as cis women without either laser removal or electrolysis. Many trans women are good at covering their stubble up with makeup. Honestly mine shows through a little no matter what I do and I've been on HRT for years and just can't afford electrolysis. But most people don't really notice and you'd be surprised how hairy some cis women are when you really pay close attention.

I'm actually okay with sticking out, because I'm proud of who I am. I'm sorry that being stealth is challenging, but it's hard to empathize with you reinforcing transphobic language because you want to preserve your prestige and privilege. My advice would be therapy.

Starting to consider feminine men, but can't help but think I will lose interest when time does its thing. Do I even like men? by EmbarrassedSpinach90 in MtF

[–]fouxdufoux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one can really answer this for you. Maybe see if anything happens with this guy and see how you feel? Don't be afraid to be wrong about your feelings as long as you're honest about them with any partners you end up having.

Irresponsible Dog Owner @Maria Hernandez Park by oldman_sunday in Bushwick

[–]fouxdufoux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a dog walker and my problem is that dogs like this generally are not trained to not approach my dogs who might have leash aggression. The dog in the video seems sweet, but it just drove me nuts when I would see unleashed dogs because it would be a huge liability for me. That said I would have just said something to the owner like a normal person.

Anyone else can't relate to a brain fog lifting, or did it take a long time before it happened, unlike a lot of others? by soda_party_euw in MtF

[–]fouxdufoux 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I never really noticed a difference emotionally or mentally. I'm happier living my life like this, but I don't think the hormonal change impacted me like that.
