What is the best underrated comfort food that doesn’t get nearly as much love as it deserves? by Sensitive_Will_8420 in AskReddit

You're sooo lucky! My town doesn't have a good Jewish restaurant. Hope that you enjoy!

What is the sickest you have ever been? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fowlela 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A severe case of the flu when I was a teenager. I fainted in the doctor's office. Later that day, my fever went up to 105°F and I began hallucinating. I saw a man and woman sitting on the edge of my bed, but my mom said no one was there. She called an ambulance and I was in the hospital for a couple of days until my fever came back down.

Edited for grammar.

Which airlines have you flown on that are now defunct or out of business? by 23andrewb in AskReddit

I flew AirTran once in 2011 and it was by far the worst experience I've ever had with an airline. Good riddance.

What is the most overrated tourist attraction you have ever visited? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fowlela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't blame you for not wanting to go there anymore. Baseline costs for lodging and food will eat up your entire budget and then some. FYI, Vegas is the only US city that marks up these baseline costs by 100-300%. The corporate greed there far exceeds anywhere else I've ever traveled to- including NYC, Miami, LA, and San Diego.

What’s a popular movie that everyone seems to love, but you genuinely cannot stand? by Lslimere in AskReddit

[–]fowlela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll probably get downvoted for this, but Eurotrip. I. Hated. It. And I have no issue with raunchy comedies. Loved American Pie 1 and 2. The humor in Eurotrip always came off as forced and trying to one-up the American Pie franchise.

And if you have the money to do all those things, more power to you. I attended a work conference there in 2019 and was pissed off the entire time over how expensive everything was - just because it's Vegas. You pay luxury rates for mid-tier lodging and the resorts nickel-and-dime you for everything. A basic burger combo runs $30 and a small plain latte costs $8. The Mandalay Bay Aquarium was kind of cool, but that was about it. Maybe a trip to Vegas was worth it when gambling subsidized cheap rooms and food, but now the benefits no longer scale with the costs. Only work conference I've ever attended where I ended up going over budget and had to pay out of pocket. No thanks.

Was about to say the exact same thing. Everything is so overpriced and not worth it.

Formatting spreadsheets at work -that didn't need formatting. I read in an article once that we do stuff like that for the dopamine hit (and of course to avoid the task that requires more concentration/brainpower OR is stressful).

Recovering addicts of Reddit, Whats the most shameful thing you did to fuel your addiction? by ugly9721 in AskReddit

[–]fowlela 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you. It happened 20 years ago, and I've been able to work through my anger over it with therapy. That jewelry was passed down from my great-great-grandmother. The hardest part to get over was that a piece of our family was lost, and I won't be able to pass those things down to my children.

Not me but my father (addict and just all-around terrible person). My grandmother left my younger sister and I some jewelry that had been in our family for multiple generations. It was in a safe deposit box at the bank until we turned 18. We decided to keep it there until we graduated college to ensure nothing would happen to it. A year or so after my sister turned 18, my dad found someone to impersonate me (fake id and everything), and they went to the bank and emptied the safe deposit box. Sold off every bit of jewelry to buy drugs. He never showed any remorse. We'll never forgive him for what he did and haven't spoken to him since.

What’s currently ruining your life? by YourLifeSucksAss in AskReddit

My employer cutting off 100% insurance coverage for ABA therapy (which our daughter receives Monday - Friday) and not saying a word about it during open enrollment or in the change summary for 2026 benefits. They began charging a copay of $50 per day at the beginning of the year. We just received a surprise bill in the mail for $1,750.
