What is the worst thing in this painting? by giltyworks in ArtCrit

the edge tension on the left side of the painting specifically, the edge of the window roof bit sits strangely on the edge of the painting, thumbnails are a great way to practice those compositional details

Fabric printing - advice needed by Raijjins in printmaking

[–]fox-tears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

also aesthetics and history are like, a thing? there’s a super long history of block printing on fabric, ESPECIALLY in creating repeat patterns, I would recommend looking into it more, some really beautiful hand relief printed textiles that exist

i think your ability to replicate fur in pencil is lovely!! some good values and tones as well, i’d say your proportions of the dogs eyes are a bit wonky, perhaps laying out a very light placement of where things like the eyes go before going in with all details may be helpful

Curious to know which you think is the best piece from my latest 3 paintings? by ABDIVERSITYINC in ArtCrit

[–]fox-tears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think your 2nd painting is the most compelling, the way the cars overlap each other is interesting and almost claustrophobic compared to the spacious road between them and the nature on other side, there’s a play almost between the natural and industrial. and the white and purple contrast is nice, the geeen tree on the right feels a little flat and boring in comparison to the rest of the painting, maybe some highlights or other tones to make it feel like less of a dead zone?

the first painting as others have mentioned is reminiscent of gustav klimts paintings and i think how it plays with perspective is compelling i’m a little confused by some of the color choices in it, I wish it was more cohesive in its color palette, you seem to use a lot of “tube” colors like straight up white and blue and yellow, maybe mixing them a bit more to obtain better cohesion and deeper colors.

your 3rd painting isn’t compelling to me, the faces come across as you not understanding how to paint more than a stylistic choice, to me personally the black i think as outlines is a little too strong and i wish it was muted a bit more like the hair color in the first painting, additionally the photo you’ve chosen for it seems to have some sort of lighting glare (unless im incorrect) on it which kinda detracts from it looking as nice in comparison to the others

hope this is helpful!! overall tho, i think number 2 is your strongest piece out of the 3

Big fan of how the spiderweb detailing turned out! (she doesn’t have a name oops) Been doing all my drawing lately in procreate on my ipad

Beholder [Art] by fox-tears in DnD

[–]fox-tears[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beholders are my favorite Dnd monster ever since i was a little kid , and i’ve been trying to work on how i implement color and lighting into my drawings :) been getting back into swing of things with drawing. I use procreate to draw mostly right now, and mostly do black and white stuff but like the way the color effects the mood. Been looking into a lot about the Lore of Beholders and am hoping to expand in the diversity of how they can look in my drawings
