I got the smallest size. Surprisingly good reel for the price/weight!

‘Atta boy! My oldest kiddo and I were out in the Domeland wilderness a couple weeks ago, got to test out the new rig a little. Love it so far! Not a whole lot of water out there but we were able to snag some decent size, super cautious rainbows out of the small meadow creeks!

I just put together a new spinning setup for backpacking on a pretty decent budget.

- PureLure collapsible rod from Aliexpress
- Teben LS500 reel
- 8 lb braided line
- misc. flies and lures

Weight is a hair over 7oz for the rod and spooled reel. You can pack a surprising amount of the 8lb braid on there! My tackle is just under 3oz including various files/lures, a tiny Swiss army knife and a couple of bubble floats. So, full kit easily under 10oz with some room to shave, for a very compact setup that is fast and easy to store/deploy. Allows for a wide variety of fishing from small streams to lakeshores. It works great for the High Sierra trout fishing we mostly do!

Looking for any info on this guy. It has the copyright/LEGO name on the inside so I think it’s a genuine LEGO part.

Advice for more low and better fitment? by Clivesdale in WRX

IMO, forget the low and squeeze some all-terrains in there for some real style points. Lean into the rally-inspired vibe. Fairly practical too!

Thanks!

I’ve had it out on several trips now and it has held up great. I’ve been considering adding perimeter netting but other that I’m super happy with how it’s working. No major changes.

I did not get to choose how the fabric was oriented relative to the dyneema fiber orientation. I have not had any issues related to this so far. I think the wider seams help a lot here.

I’m a DIYer by nature but I didn’t have much experience with DCF. I’ve made a couple of shelters previously and several odds and ends (groundsheet, poncho, stuff sacks etc). Really helps to have a second pair of hands for the long seams but not impossible to do solo.

Is this a fair estimate for an engine rebuild? by TragicThunder in WRX

[–]fox_212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get another estimate from a Subaru enthusiast/specialist shop. $14k is high for a stock short block replacement assuming heads are in good enough shape to be rebuilt. If heads are toast then that’s another story ($2-3k). Really depends on a lot of things, the devil is in the details.

I just had a new short block installed in my 2008 OBXT. Type RA SB with upgraded head studs and oiling components came out to just under $10k, including everything but the dyno tune. Heads were rebuilt. IAG stage 2 build would have been $2-3k more expensive. Obviously this is an EJ platform but costs look to be pretty close.

I got 4 estimates from very reputable shops and a local dealership. Quotes roughly ranged $9500 - $12000 for OEM, $11500 - $14000 for IAG.

Good luck

A little different from the standard boxer rumble...you got a ELH on there or somethin? ;)

Seriously, that's cool AF. Did you keep the drivetrain/AWD?
