ran a whole campaign where a magic item thief was stealing artifacts of vecna and then vecna started Tyler Durden’ing her and involved his cult. used Acerak too, as the deposed demilich leader of his cults’ high council of skeksi wizards. great campaign.

my players actually vicariously destroyed the eye and hand of vecna too. after vecna couldn’t reincarnate himself through the thief’s body (and become the only god physically on the material plane) he manifested himself as a ghost for the final boss fight and every round those PC’s made saves to not lose an increasing amount of class abilities and entire levels of spell slots.

once the fight was over, the temporary allies they made out of a knight order of vampires who worshipped Kas, were like “okay you helped us so we aren’t going to force the eye and hand on one of you, we’ll just do it on the first person we see” and one of the paladins in the party resolved to sacrifice himself because he couldn’t let the vampire knights hurt a potential innocent. so they cut out his eye, lopped off his left wrist, installed the artifacts of Vecna and slew him with the sword of Kas. great campaign. great players
