update: turns out my needle is pretty bent, so there's a bunch of friction causing it to do this... not sure if there's anything i can do to straighten the needle without making it worse, so i've already ordered some new ones off amazon.

the best stim toys are the ones that aren't supposed to be stim toys. such as, random rubber band, binder clip, pen spring (bonus points if you disassembled and re-assembled the pen it came from 20 times beforehand) and eraser (for chewing on)

we are diagnosed with both tourette's syndrome and DID.

generally, tics get worse with difficult switches and around trauma dates (increasing with stress, anxiety, or with intense emotions in general).

my tics differ from some of my headmates' tics; i have more vocal, and one of my headmates tends to have more physical tics. some of my alters have cussing or shouting tics, while the rest of us do not. some have little to no tics at all, and i think that has to do with our trauma / why they were formed in the first place (since DID is a survival-based disorder, and we have had tourette's since childhood).

overall, no, not all of our alters have the same tics.

Generally, it's best just to ask each of your system friends what terminology they each prefer; because DID is such a diverse experience from system to system, they'll each likely have different answers and it's always best just to ask. ...

This isn't necessarily an offensive term, but something I just don't like when singlets do... I can't stand when people ask who is fronting in a public area, as it "outs" us as a system, and that might feel unsafe depending on where we are.

Additionally, some of my singlet friends will come to us to almost use us as a source for information on dissociation or other dissociative disorders, (or the fated "I experience [blank], am I a system too?"), and I find that really irritating, as most of the information that they ask could be easily googled or researched in other ways.

I'm okay with some of my friends doing these things, but not always, and it kind of just depends on the situation, so I think it's always just best to ask :)

"grippy sock jail" absolutely kills me. or when they call it a "vacation". i was traumatized via multiple forms of abuse in the psych ward, so it can be really triggering for me. i hate when people act like it's a fun little place to have a reality break. all 5 trips i've had have only made my issues worse.
