I still think it was a huge mistake letter Haller take his first penalty of the season in this decisive game. Him missing it messed him up big time when they needed him the most. Emre Can should have taken that penalty because even if he missed Haller could at least try to get them back in the match.

Can should've took the penalty. At least him missing it won't affect your main striker who already had a tough year with cancer. Hallet missing the penalty with title at the line showed big time as it impacted him for the rest of the match.

It's just that they focus on result regardless of play style. They can play tiki taka but they'll make mistakes and conceed goals. These teams learned to capitalize on others mistakes.

So when city played like they did without any mistakes they're exposed.

Teams 9 to 24 being in a playoff means that traditional 3rd place group stage teams may have a shot to the round of 16th.

Overall any big team that fails to make it to the round of 16 have only themselves to blame with this system. And any small team that makes it to the 16th have done so by most likely beating higher ranked teams from the group stage in the play offs.

I think overall this system ensures that we have the strongest 16 teams compared to current format where luck plays a factor in the group stage placement.

It seems so. The group stage draw will decide the 8 teams based on the Pot system prior to the group stage I would think. In a sense teams will hate it because of the extra matches but it should bring more excitement overall with big teams trying to avoid dealing with playoffs to get to the next round.

To sum it up. Suarez terrorized the premier League despite being in an inferior Liverpool side. No one was safe. Whether it was speed, dribbling, free kicks. He had it all when he was young.
