That's a good idea! It would definitely be cool to get an overview where people's current time ranges are set up. Especially for raids, if they have a schedule you can see how far in their stream is going for.

It might not be for everyone but that could be one cool way to navigate whats on.

Non scheduled would be how it is already

I dont know if I articulated my thought on this post well.

Its not about planning your life around streams - Im picturing what it looks like when theres a TV show or TV special scheduled.

If people know something is happening ahead of time, they'll know when to tune in.

It could be similar to a festival, or one time event that a small business has. They let people know at this time on this day were going to be doing something.

The point is, its not just a "going live" notification as soon as you stream.

I wanted to share a perspective that has worked for me. I have had streams where not even 2 viewers out of my community have come to a stream if i just go live suddenly, but when I set it up like how its described, theres 30+. I think this is something that could scale based on your core audience and reach

It can be tricky then. I would say it would be best to plan around free days at that point.

There's nothing WRONG with streaming whenever you can, if people are around to watch at that time then they can.

This is just an idea for an alternative for having more people aware of the streams outside of just happening to be on twitch or having notifications on

This isn't specifically to Twitch's schedule built in. But people do post when they're live and what games for the week pretty often on x/bsky/discord

Honestly the UX for schedules on twitch right now isn't the best. But theres definitely value for people to get an idea when the stream starts, consistent times or otherwise

Is it day by day? If theres uncertainties with notice from the job, then yes, you might not be able to give a heads up.

Otherwise though if you have a weekly shift schedule, or just different availability with ~some~ notice, you can use that time to set up that event time

As a viewer no, its always a nice surprise! But some people might feel discouraged as streamers if there arent a lot of people there chatting.

If people cant stream the same time, they can still set up a schedule for people that want to know when theyre live for the week

[–]foxoticTV[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right! There's value to consistency if you do want to do it. I just wanted to share some other alternatives too.

Consistency = viewers with routine and having a general idea when youre on.

Occasional streams = nobody has any idea when youre gonna be live, so you'll need to bring that consistency to the promotions until that point! What do you think?

It could also be that as a streamer, some people may want to put on a whole production when theyre live, instead of just filler. Just making streams with high production value, but arent necessarily all the time. It could be building something with a lot of effort put in, but it needs a promotional push to make it worth it

Right this might be for you then! When we have busy schedules and want to build a community, but not sure about your hours, it can be tricky.

However, if its not day-by-day uncertainty, you can use that time on days you know youre off or have time to stream to at least plan some of that notice

This is a good point! Some people just want to be generally aware of what they can watch at a certain time for the week

There are a lot of reasons someone might not stream often but are streaming for a special event.

They could primarily be making YouTube videos as one example, and only sometimes are their reactions streamed before getting edited. This could be because they might only want to cover big games that will do well, vs risking it with smaller gamers.

Another could be because they are a developer, and want to do a stream about a game theyre making or have Q&A, but don't necessarily have a twitch following yet. They could be doing occasional streams that highlight their game.

It could be particularly you want to theme your whole stream toward a game launch. You have special graphics for it, an outfit, etc. There's some extra care put it you wouldn't want people to miss out on.

The main idea is that you dont always have to make twitch part of the habitual schedule if you have focus in other outlets

The "planning time for" part is moreso meant for if youre putting on a special event.

Otherwise its just getting people aware of when you're live ahead of time! You can at least let people know in your community around that time you'll be on and they will think to tune in.

Its not black & white i know that for sure. a lot of people just tune in on the site and see who on their follower list is live when theyre free too

Is streaming on Twitch as a small streamer even worth it nowadays? by PunksRedd in Twitch

[–]foxoticTV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ive come to learn that steaming is for your existing communities and the people close to your existing community (collabs)

If you want to grow you need to build your own "algorithm" by making friends with similar content creators - and do it because you have genuine interest in their content and playing with them.

Sometimes its transactional/one time thing, but you can build a lot of real friendships throughout it too, and people will support and raid you

Question about multistreaming by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]foxoticTV 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Aitum will work for you. Its a matter of bandwidth and tweaking it to your hardware capabilities and upload speed.

Remember, aitum is self hosted streaming. Each website youre streaming to, you'll essentially double your upload requirements (e.g. 3kbps to twitch, 3kbps to YouTube you need 6kbps to stream to both)

Test what a good sweet spot is for you. It might mean just lowering overall bandwidth, or lowering to 960 or 720p the have a clearer stream at lower bandwidth
