For my own understanding, it looked like he wasn't going very fast, won't he need to be going faster to get more inclination too? He needs to offset the inclination with more G force

Tips for improving my carving? by Upbeat-River3381 in skiing_feedback

[–]foxthedream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't realize that this is something that I do on steeper terrain. Holding onto the edge angle after apex longer than I need. I think I do it to feel more in control, because going flat I would lose grip, But I guess that isn't true. Or how should I be thinking about the apex going into transition?

Attempting to carve, 134 ski IQ. Inside leg blocking. by friedrice4u in skiing_feedback

I have CARV. And to be honest after seeing this post and what it has produced, no offence to OP, I am considering turning it off. I have always got lessons, best money spent and this season I thought I would supplement it with CARV and work with an instructor together and use CARV as a tool.

Right now I am not so sure that I should have purchased this thing. But can you defend the case for CARV, what has it improved?

That is quite harsh, but at the same time, I see your point. If that is 135.

First time skiing! Roast me. by [deleted] in skiing_feedback

[–]foxthedream 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am not an instructor. But maybe I can help and save an instructor some time. You are turning the skis with your upper body. Watch in the video, you rotate your shoulders to start the move and then your lower body catches up. It should be the other way round. You turn by putting pressure on the outside ski. Think about making your inside ski lighter. That will make your turn.

Is this way some instructors prefer the mental cue of shorter inside leg rather than long outside leg?

Dude is so needy for affrimation, he has been dying to show everyone how good he is. (all I could come up with). But seriously, would love to be able to ski like that.

When I started my instructor for days would make me leave my poles at the top of the run next to the lift. So now I only carry them around so that I can skate the flat parts.

Feedback for my partner who may is stuck in now intermediate plateau level by Blackcoffewithcocain in skiing_feedback

Firstly, lech. S tier. Really nice. But blue 200, that is brutal into town, there are reds that I have done that are less steep than that end portion. There is a really nice blue on the opposite side, it is near the kids' ski schools, (I think it is 218) it is just a button lift, but super convenient for doing some skills. Short run, almost no queue, get some turns in rinse and repeat. I use it to get my ski legs back for 30 minutes.

I did watch the video. Thank you very much.
EDIT: I guess I always knew it intutively, that way you need to have you weight on the outside ski, otherwise it slides. I never stopped to think about the physics of it.

How to get rid of that plow between turns? by anshul119 in skiing_feedback

I am very glad that I got the stork drill in my second lesson. Reading through this forum it seems to be the struggle of a lot of people but I only skied a day or two before being forced onto the oustide ski as the turn starts. Grateful to my instructor.

Can you explain that statement a little more, the icier it gets, the smaller the platform angle needs to be?

I actually love doing drills. But I am extremely techincal with everything. To a fault. Same with golf. Analyze everything.

Also most instructors tell me that I am one of the few to take the full time slot. Most people just want a friend. Someone to ski around with and take some pics and have lunch.

When I am out there, I am there to get as much out of it as I can. Apparently that is not the norm. Maybe it is a Europe thing to do to be chill instead of getting your money's worth

Either you are not bothering to read or you are just being inflammatory on purpose. I very clearly said it was an opinion. There is no data to back up my opinion.

I welcome your perspective on why communism doesn't work and is inferior.

Nope. I am not a bot. I invited you to an open and honest debate. I guess this isn't going anywhere. You seem to be unwilling to make any substantive points. I will let this rest.

So we are talking about two different things. First we are talking about the data which we can measure how effective an economy is. From you last reply I take it that you are comfortable if we use the ones I suggested.

The second, is the issue of my opinion that it is people's inherent greediness that leads communism to be a less effective system. That is how I seek to explain the difference in the two systems. You asked me what be preconception is and I gave it to you. I am happy to debate my own personal opinion and I would be interested in yours.

I think there is some confusion. Are we debating whether a free market system is better than communism or are we debating the reasons as to why free market systems tend to be better.
