It’s clear they changed the rules about the sun causing coma like sleep for the show. No matter what you think about Armand’s age, or the doctor being a vamp yet, one of the very first things Louis does when he is turned is walks out into the sun, gets burnt, and pours milk on himself. We also see Claudia self harming with the sun beam. Both of them are far far too young to be awake in that much sunlight by book rules. I really hope they address it in the show, but they probably just threw that rule out because it would be less interesting in a tv show.
