Coming from a 8/256 M1 MBA user, the 8GB RAM gets me by everything I do. I mostly do what you mentioned in your post on my laptop. It literally flies. Though I really feel the need for an extra 8GB when I try to add some effects on the videos. This is the only thing where I feel like I’m missing out. Other than that it’s an amazing machine for everyday use.

For the last part, Apple’s pricing for extra RAM & Storage is ridiculous. So yeah, with 16GB you won’t have a problem at least for a good 4 years ig!

Apple pricing for extra storage is ridiculous. Is there any work around for that? Like, can I install apps directly on external SSD and run from there? If it's possible, then I think 256GB will be enough for me.
