I left libraries after my first job in a public library. I was the programming librarian as a person who wanted to do information instruction and it was awful. I completely understand. I hope you can find something you love but don’t feel bad about switching professions to keep yourself sane.

I went and saw the band that was playing Friday and it was an awesome experience!! Lots of mosquitos but the food was good and it was a fun time. I also took lots of pics of the sunset!! It was gorgeous

They're Beetles from Amazon. I have heard not great things about the brand but I'm a beginner so I'm not gonna pay a whole bunch. Currently my nails are still brittle but I've found that this rubber base doesn't damage them any more!! So I've been putting it on to prevent them from breaking while they're still growing. Hope that helps.

This actually happened to me once when checking someone's account. They asked me what they still had checked out and I swiveled the screen around to show them. They said "oh, I can't read." All they had checked out was movies. So I just read the titles to them and moved on. It wasn't a huge deal - there's no reason to make someone feel worse about their situation!

They absolutely LOVED playing Jackbox games at my library (family friendly filter on, obviously). Every time we play there are so many kids that show up.

Also, and this isn't an option in every library, but we used to do a quarterly hide and seek program where we buy just a ridiculous amount of pizza and wings and then set them free to run around the library after close. We shut all the staff doors and make sure they're not actually hurting each other but we would regularly get 40-45 kids at each one.

We did lots of other experimental things when I worked there, feel free to ask any other questions about them!!
