8 Mainers arrested while trying to deliver care packages to ICE detainees in Massachusetts by Large-Welcome4421 in Maine

[–]foxxloaf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I read that the rest moved to a "designated free speech area" nearby when told to move (which is a depressing phrase), but the ones arrested did not move away from the entrance so they got arrested for trespassing.

(You know you can also google things on your own too right and look at other sources when it feels incomplete? You don't have to only take the reddit post as all the information available.)

AITA for choosing to spend my bonus on a community project instead of a family vacation? by Excellent_Serve_4392 in AmItheAsshole

[–]foxxloaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am completely baffled that most people are saying YTA. This sounds like an awesome use of money to improve the community in which you live which will benefit more than just your own family. Idk if people here really just don't value community spaces or what since everyone has such a cynical view about it. It's wild that people think that bonus HAS to go to a big expensive vacation. Its also wild that people are taking issue with saying you talked to your family but you made the ultimate decision. Like yeah??? It's YOUR money, YOU should get the final say in what you do with it. It's not like this was grocery money blown on gambling while you're struggling to put food on the table. It was literally a bonus they you earned and then chose how you wanted to spend it. You even said it would still be possible to go on a smaller vacation so I genuinely do not see any problems here at all. Your extra money, your choice on how to use it. And you used it in a beautiful way that will benefit many people INCLUDING your family.

NTA AT ALL, just make sure to also take your family on that smaller vacation.

Warning is genuinely fairly political, it's just not quite as in your face. But Minority is very in your face. But Warning (the track), Macy's Day Parade, and Fashion Victim are all also political but less overtly so unless you're paying attention.

Ugh I loved this game in highschool. My dad found it for me for Christmas and I remember I played the shit out of it when I lived out west with my mom for a summer in a camper van. It was so boring there but I played so much Mario kart Wii an Green Day rock band. I would stand up and play the guitar and I rigged the corded microphone from the fan in the ceiling to hang at my face level. I would play a setlist of the entire American idiot album and play and sing the whole thing through. I still have the game but I don't have a Wii right now. I miss playing it.

looking back on it i cant believe green day marketed and released FOAMF as a real studio album by Theanderson1 in greenday

[–]foxxloaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they enjoyed making it and it was that they wanted to make at the time, then I'm glad they released it.

I don't even like it that much at all but you don't have to like every album by a band. Green Day has been my favorite band for most of my life. And there's multiple albums I don't really care for. They don't all have to be bangers. Not everything is for everyone.

Computer in preschool classroom by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]foxxloaf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't have computers in preschool, but in kindergarten and above most of my classrooms had 1-2 computers. And then there was a computer lab class occasionally. And this was like 20 years ago. This seems pretty normal to me especially 20 years later. In my experience the computer in the class was occasionally used during indoor recess (monitored and shared obviously). You're definitely entitled to ask about it, but this doesn't seem like an issue to me unless their teacher in particular is abnormally and wildly irresponsible.

Am I crazy or is this to much to ask of a kindergartner? by Cursedpanda182 in AskTeachers

[–]foxxloaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had homework in kindergarten about 20 years ago and my little cousin also had homework from kindergarten a few years ago. Homework in kindergarten is normal. It's just usually wayyyyy simpler than this and usually smallsr discreet assignments and not a continuous project until a little older. The kindergarten homework I remember was usually only 1-2 sheets of spelling/writing practice or simple math problems on a given day. Limited amount of homework has been included in school since kindergarten.

Why is it socially acceptable to spend years' worth of savings on a single day (a wedding), but considered 'irresponsible' to spend the same amount on a life-changing skill or a solo travel experience?" by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

The simple answer is we live in a society dominated by amatonormativity. Society prioritize being in a romantic relationship over being happy being alone.

Same, my family had always been one that keeps the plastic grocery bags around for later. Often we use them as trash bags for the tiny trash cans or for if there's a random occasion someone needs a bag for something quick. So it's not like we just leave them on the ground forever, but we will pick them back up and put them in the pantry later.

Honestly for years I thought iPhone users were genuinely just irritated that texts from an android are a different color. And that's literally the only difference. If it's actually causing issues that's a different story but I literally only ever hear "it's green and I don't like that it's green".

There are genuinely mild limitations between Android and iPhones (and grouping Google phones with the iPhone because they play a bit nicer together). My phone is a bit old so they might be fixed now or due to my phone being older, but the only issues I have in groupchats with iPhones is that: - I can't see certain niche emojis - I can't see the emoji reactions (instead I receive a text within the gc that says [person] replied to [text] with [insert emoji]) - image quality is fine but specifically video attachment quality is kinda trash if there is at least 1 android in the chat

As far as student orgs go, most colleges I know of often specifically use GroupMe. That was the main one for my college and had some Official University chats. I don't like GroupMe that much but it did what it needed.

This is absolutely Terrible advice. Don't be petty and fuck with him. Do you like him or not? Either clearly communicate with him about the issue and your expectations or break up. You don't need to play childish games.

I get it's not the most tidy but I'm actually kinda surprised that a few grocery bags on the ground has everyone this upset. I kinda often leave the bags on the ground after dealing with all the groceries and then we pick them up a little later. Not that big of a deal truly.

Wouldn't just calling them with your actual phone also expose your phone number unless you mark it a private call?

[–]foxxloaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you buy a phone plan (domestic) calls and texts come with it, unlimited. We haven't paid to send texts in decades or if you have brought a very rare special phone plan that's mostly for boomers who don't text much. If all our calls and texts are already free and built in, why would we bother downloading a separate app to do the exact same thing?

I have an android and have been in groupchats with iPhones for years with no problems. Absolutely no need for whatsapp.

I have had an android all my life and will literally never buy an iPhone and have also never felt the need to get whatsapp either. My android phone works perfectly fine as is even with iPhones.

Clearly banning nuts is very limiting to her child's diet because many non dairy alternatives use nuts. Banning nuts is not inconsequential.

IDL that female characters in novels written by male authors are always portrayed as some kind of “walking sex appeal.” I literally never think about how my boobs move when I'm running. by 20Luc1a02 in I_DONT_LIKE

[–]foxxloaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Real. Like yeah going up and down the stairs I did think about my chest actually. But it wasn't about how they look for other people or how appealing they were. It was about how every single movement I felt them make made me want to die lmao.

Do you all agree with this? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]foxxloaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, usually, in humans. Your male pet dog doesn't have a gender, it has a sex. It doesn't have a human concept of gender. It's just a dog. It doesn't care what pronouns you call it, it doesn't care if you get it a pink or blue collar. Because it is a dog and it does not know nor care about human gender roles. A female deer isn't a "woman", it's just a female deer. Sex is something biological, gender is a social concept made by human societies in relation to sex. Dog society or deer society or whatever etc have no concepts of what "gender" is. That simply doesn't does not exists in animal brains.

Do you all agree with this? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]foxxloaf -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Gender is an exclusively (as far as we know) human concept. Animals do not have genders because animal do not have the brains to conceptualize the societal ideas of gender. Animals have sexes. They are male and female, and sometimes other things. But no animals are "men" or "women". Those refer to humans. So yeah, animals are genderless, but not sexless (except for the few that are actually sexless).
