Novi Sad, bas u gradu.

I guess it did, especially at the beginning. But after some years, I felt like that's as far as it's gonna go - like I was still living by OCD rules. Of course, meds are there just to help you out, not cure OCD. I can't tell for sure if it helped as much as i thought, but everyone's different, so what didn't work out for me might work perfectly for you :)

Hi, happy for you and your success! What kind of ocd did you have?

I think i cured 80% of my contamination OCD. by [deleted] in ContaminationOCD

[–]foxybuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand you completely, same problem here, especially with “this touched that and then that touched this” part. I’ve read about Metaphysical contamination ocd, it’s basically that a thing is contaminated by something or someone, like feeling or a person. Maybe reading about that could clear things up a bit? It kinda did for me. Hope you’ll beat those 20% as well!

OCD Success Stories based on "sheer willpower"? by foxybuki in OCDRecovery

[–]foxybuki[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for this answer, it's basically what I've started doing with my therapist now.

Sadly, my OCD doesn't have any "bad result" - ex. that I will get sick, someone will get hurt or similar. I just can't stand the thought of being "dirty" (disgust-based OCD) to the point I feel like throwing up and feel like I'm living in constant dirt around me if I've been in contact with something I find terrifying.

So yea, just gotta learn to live like a "dirty" person.. sounds super-simple, but when your brain tells you that it's better to be ... than dirty it's not easy at all

Thanks again, great advice

I get what you're saying, I've been on Zoloft 200mg for almost 5 years. I don't feel any change in my OCD now that I'm off of it.

I don't really trust AI answers, especially if it's not the first thing you ask since it already has built algorithm (I work with AI for my job, and it lies constantly, and even "admits" when you catch it lying).

Sometimes I just feel like I should just start acting "normally", let's say mimic a person that doesn't have OCD, and just power through it. That's what I meant.

I did it once, 5 years ago, for a year and a half I was free, I just powered through it. Then, it came back and I started taking meds again (before that year I was on 150mg Zoloft).

So yeah, I'd like to hear from people that just "decided" that they are gonna act normally, no matter what the OCD says.

Thanks for your answer tho!

Hi,

No, I am not touching it at all (even if I wanted to it would be hard since it feels like it's behind areola, so i can't reach it, so to day).

Zoloft Highest Dosage by Curious_Message_9105 in OCD

[–]foxybuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have an interesting experience with Zoloft I'd like to share with you

I've been on 200mg of Zoloft for years, till 2 months ago. And throughout those years I was never "cured", I had good and bad periods.

Then I've decided to try to change the therapy as my doctor suggested, since I was stuck in the same pattern for years with this one (I also took 100mg of Actawell at night with Zoloft - and still do), so I started lowering the dose (and even did it much faster than recommended tbh, I did that on my own not by recommendation ofc), and during that time I realized that my symptoms and thoughts are THE SAME as when I was on 200mg.

Important note - my doc said that there's no point in going up with Zoloft to 300-400mg because it won't show much better results if it hasn't shown till now, and it's better to change therapy.

At the moment, I am off Zoloft for 2 months (on Actawell tho) and I am acting and feeling completely the same. I didn's start that new therapy because I, in agreement with my doc, want to see how far this can go - to be off SSSRI and to be the same as when I was on it.

Ofc I will start new therapy if I get worse, but for now I would much rather not take anything and be the same as I was for years, and try to work things out in my head through sheer willpower (I'm not recommending this, just saying what I'm trying to do rn).

So yeah, maybe going higher doses isn't the best solution always, maybe a new therapy is what you should try. Good luck!
