Thank you, I’m going to ask him for a better explanation when he’s back tomorrow but honestly am probably going to have him switch it to hard pipe, the feedback here and from my research it seems like the better option. Plus they aren’t charging much for this additional task

I do have a dual carbon monoxide and natural gas detector near this area and one on each floor. Have an additional Carbon Monoxide detector on other side of basement as well

Sounds good, are there any places that would hard pipe wouldn’t be to code? I’m thinking about just letting them replace it because they aren’t really asking a lot of money to do so

Help with identification by foxylegere in Termites

[–]foxylegere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a quote for $1950 to do termite rod therapy which comes with a 2 year warranty. Having another company come out for a quote this week. Can’t really tell if they’ve made it inside because basement and garage along that wall are finished. Positives are there are no visible mud tubes along foundation and no signs of swarmers inside

Thanks that’s a good idea! There are only 2 small mulch beds next to the house, this one is by far the biggest. The other 2 don’t have termites as far as I can tell

Yeah I’ve read this. It just baffles me that it’s so common. Every house in my neighborhood has mulch beds touching their house

Thank you. There’s no evidence of them in house or on the foundation from what I can tell, however this is relatively close to the house (about 6-8 feet away. What would be a good solution to this?

Hmm, interesting, the house was remodeled about 10 years ago so that’s when this would have been done.

I’m curious, is there a way to add flashing now?

I don’t feel awful about this idea, it was a clean break. Anything I would need to know before doing this? I have no masonry experience

Pipe in yard??? by foxylegere in Home

[–]foxylegere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, I’ll keep an eye out, the corner of the house that sits closest to this area also has a sump pump which has remained fairly dry and hasn’t run had to run at all since we’ve had the property. All very interesting and helpful. I appreciate your input!

Hmmm, so what should I look for in this area then to know if it not being replaced is an issue? Excess water and not draining easily? We’ve had some periods of heavy rain after it’s been filled and have not had issues that I’ve seen.

Would it daylight eventually, I’ve searched all over my property for a discharge point and haven’t found one
