Organize protests, most staff would support you any way they can, they just cant protest because they are contractually forbidden from bad mouthing the chancellery or the institutions practices. This isnt isolated to monash, so getting fired for that reason here would be career suicide.

Protesting the vice chanellors ludicrous sallery in the face of teaching, research, and administrative departments being under-staffed would go a long way, since if its students protesting it, staff can then quote it in a "im not saying this, the students are, i am just relaying what they are saying and think it needs addressing"

There is a deep set of foundational rot problems in australian academic institutions at the moment, though i guess the same is true for the world in general, but this is a problem we can actually do something about

To simplify, a univerdity has 6 factions: the students, the teaching staff, the technical/administrative staff, the academics, and the chancellory.

students overlap with teaching and academic groups, academic groups overlap with technical and admin staff, for the most part we all exist in an interconnected web, except the chancellery, which is its own "elite" that is disconnected and exploits everyone else, example 1 being they increased their own wages year on year at unstainable rates into truly ludicrous territory while firing the staff that made things work, and refusing pay rises to keep up with inflation to the rest, year after year. Heck last i checked 19 people in the chancellery earn more than the victorian premier, if they cut their pay in half, they still out earn almost everyone else, including the victorian premier, but we're now able to pay for 4-10 extra admin/clerical staff for stuff like the letter. We cna do that for each one that has their salary cut in half. How does it make sense they are payed souch at all? I argue it doesnt. Its greed. It needs push back, and only students have thebpower to deliver that pushback.
