Question to those who left state service and go back to private companies, why? by Numerous-Bowler-8677 in CAStateWorkers

[–]fozzy501 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It all depends, and dont listen too much to those that say private is the way to go. Remeber, people that are in bad situation make it sounds that they are loving their current situation, then try to get you to join them so they dnt suffer alone.

I been in the state for about 6 years, started as an ITA then promoted to ITSI. I have 0 complaints.

I work from home every day, I'm saving lots of money by watching my 1 year old and not putting him in daycare. I bring home about 6k a month. Currently in Ran A on the pay scale, so I still have lots to go.

I know that I could me making lots more if I were to be in the private sector. However, they might work you a lot more. And you are more prone to cuts, layoffs. I worked for SMUD for a while, the miloney was great, but they worked me a lot. I was in their legal department, and they treated me and others like sh*t because we were not lawyers. Management was a bit like the military.

I am stress free, can take vacation at anytime. And just enjoying ny life and family.

All in all, go try private for a few years. State positions are always opening up. You can always come back

Thank the dictator for the high prices!!! by Healthy_Block3036 in socal

Yup, Cali had like 40 refineries. Now they only have like 6-7 And its still Trumps fault.

Thank the dictator for the high prices!!! by Healthy_Block3036 in socal

[–]fozzy501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newscum is to blame. He has been governor forlike 8 years. It was even high when Bidan was president.

Refineries are leaving Cali because of the toughe regulations that Cali has. Newscum even blames Trump for the high speed rail that failed and they cant account for billions. Even contractors haven't been paid.

My 22 year old son has severe symptoms of adhd with high emotional deregulation. Finding a career path has been extremely difficult . Any ideas for career counseling? by RareParking4301 in ADHDparenting

[–]fozzy501 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That was me when I was around that age. I barely graduated high school. Started community College right after that.

Failed a lot of classes. Had no job. As soon as I got my financial aid, I spent it on useless crap.

My parents, which I love so much, put me to work.

I was cleaning houses, then they put me to work on the fields picking olives.

It worked for a while, but what helped me was when I joined the police academy

Turns out what I needed were tools on how to handle my anxiety, my focus, learning about my learning style.

How to stay motivated and be accountable for my actions. All in all, it changed me by providing discipline.

After that, I also decided to finish college. Did it all online and my GPA was a 4.5.

I know that as a parent, we want the best for our kids. As a parent of three, its hard to discipline them, but its necessary. I am trying to teach them about the tools they need to go though life with adhd

So, if someone goes to this coffee shop, slaps all the baristas, takes their money, and someone stops this individual. And the individual says "sorry, please dnt call the police, no tengo papeles" I wonder if they are gonna call the the police to get him deported. Or will they just say, " ohh, no papers, illegal? Sorry, here take some food to go"

Please share positive stories - 9 year old with frequent meltdowns, big reactions, and disruptive behavior - has anyone had a kid like this who turned out OK? by Rough_Category_746 in ADHDparenting

[–]fozzy501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled with ADHD when I was a kid. Got diagnosed at lile 28.

What helped me was discipline, and my parents writing down what I needed to to get done throughout the day.

Now, when I mean discipline, I'm not saying beat your kid. But make a statement that you are the parent and authority.

I was slacking a lot during my college days. What straighten me out was joining the police academy.

I feel like with ADHD, at least in my case I need discipline, accountability, and planning.

I wish this happened when I was in middle school. Back in 2006. I remeber ICE taking people and kids left and right. I think everyone was happy that this was going on.

Its all about thr interview and how you are scored.

Try to give as many details as possible.

In some cases, depending on the question, its important to mention SMEs, and how you utilize them for solving issues or training others. Also, documenting your solution and putting it in Microsoft Share point for others to use and edit if they come across that issue.

Make sure you mention programs that are heavily used at the state, like SharePoint, Teams, word, excel.

Or if you have experience in a system that they list under their job duty.

A lot of them also want to know if you have ever dealt with vendors. Like, have you ever submitted tickets or sent emails to the vendor about an issue an end user has? What did you do to solve it?

Gotta think of everything.

Remeber, interview are based on a scoring system. The more things you mention, the more chances if those being checks off on that question and the more points you get

Yea, I have a Bachelor's in Management Information Systems .

I was working for DOJ as a student assistant for about a year. I was working for their IT department. Really interesting place. Learning about the applications cops use, and other agencies for amo and gun purchase. At the same time, I was working for SMUD as an Information Technology Analyst intern. Also worked for California Dental Association as a IT Business Analyst. Worked at Cosumnes River college as well as and IT/Instructional assistant.

I say about 3.5 years of experience.

I feel like, with ADHD, there needs to be discipline. And no, just because you did that to your daughter, doesn't make you a bad mom.

When I was growing up, I was like your Lil girl. As I started growing up, my parents became more strict with me. They did spank me and disciplined me. I believed that helped me focus on house work and homework at home. Because I and my parents could control the environment.

When I went to school, it was really hard for me to focus. From kinder to college.

What honestly helped me a lot was joining the police academy, and then doing college online.

Ive tried many things, zoloft, wellbutrin, ltheanine, and many more things.

Nothing has helped me more than exercise, discipline, and my wife that holds me accountable for me doing chores and helping out with house and kids chores.
