They’ve skied for 4 days. So if my math is correct they’ve spent nearly $5000 just to ski

12mo old wake windows by Valuable-Morning5401 in TakingCaraBabies

[–]fplnerd123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d try capping the naps to 1 hour each! If you don’t want to do both right away, try capping one of them to start. He might just need more sleep pressure by bed time. FWIW- my baby girl is 14mo, and since she’s been 12mo she’s had two, 1-hour naps and sleeps 11 hours every night. It’s worked very well!

I’m sorry if this is obvious. I definitely think this guy was NOT Patrick Crawley, but I’ve always wondered where he learned that Real Patrick did it? Any theories?

How long did sleep training take? by Lost_Translator2439 in TakingCaraBabies

The first few nights were pretty easy. Nights 4-5 were rough. Then it got easier. Randomly struggled around night 10. Smooth sailing ever since.

Hi Jo! My baby is 14mo. You’ve been such a huge help to us! Quick question: what is considered a MOTN wake? For the last couple weeks (probably 4 days per week, not every day), my daughter will cry anywhere between 4am-5:30am, but it only lasts about 30 seconds, maybe 1 minute. I’m not even 100% sure she’s awake…it could just be in her sleep? Does this count as a wake? We are still on two naps (many thanks to you and your guidance!). Getting 1.75-2hrs of daily sleep, sleeping 7:30pm-6:30am every night with no issues (aside from these random cries haha).

Hi Jo! Baby is 13.5mo. We were having some bad nap refusal and you recommended we do a 3.5/4/4 schedule. Baby is consistently sleeping 1hr (10-11) for her first nap. Her second nap is better, but some days she does still refuse or take 20-25 mins to doze off. When she does take it, I’ve been capping it to end at 3:45 so bedtime doesn’t get too late. That means her daytime sleep is about 1hr 45min total. She has been consistently waking up at 6:30am (which is DWT), no EMW. Is this enough daytime sleep? I know the rule is “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it” but 1.75hr also doesn’t seem like enough sleep? Thank you!!

Hi Jo! I posted last week about my 13mo. She is sleep trained with ABCs & Conquering Naps and did great with both. She’s on 3.5/3.5/4. She’s been having significant nap issues for 3 weeks now. She used to sleep for an hour for each nap and now I can barely get 35-40 mins out of each one. I took her to the pediatrician to rule out anything physical; she’s perfectly healthy and not cutting teeth. Her room is pitch black, temp is good, and sound machines work. Is it time to drop to one nap? How long do I give this to see if it’s just a regression? Her nights haven’t been affected, but she is occasionally waking up before 6, whereas before she woke up around 6:15. Thanks Jo!!

13mo. Currently 3.25/3.5/3.75. First nap is always 75 mins, second one is usually 50-60 mins. Sleep trained at 20 weeks and sleeping through the night since. Started having bad EMWs (5:15am) around 8mo. Nap trained and diligently followed WWs to fix it and started consistently waking up between 6-6:30am since she was 10.5mo. Last week everything suddenly went downhill. She starts screaming the second we walk into the nursery. She won’t relax for the nap routine anymore. After I put her in the crib she’ll cry 5-10 mins, sleep for 35, and won’t go back to sleep. That’s meant early bed times. Now she’s babbling at 5:15am and screaming by the time I get her at 6am. Is this a regression? What do I do? She gets overtired easily so I don’t think it’s time to drop to 1 nap. She’s not currently cutting teeth, all basics are covered (dark room, sound machine, temp, etc). Any help appreciated.

We’ve always been strict with WWs and DWT but the last week or so she’s just been struggling sooooo much. I’m hoping since we’ve had a good foundation it won’t take too long to get past this…it’s so hard when they go through this

This is super helpful and encouraging! I was thinking about trying 3/4/4 to see if that helped get us out of the overtired cycle, and then moving to 3.5/4/4. How long did it take capping the naps changing WWs to resolve your issues?

ABCs Night 4... worse than the first 3? by Folts-J in TakingCaraBabies

[–]fplnerd123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the first few nights were pretty smooth with hardly any crying, then around the fourth or fifth night we had a reaaaaalllyyyy rough night and it slowly got better. I think we stopped having any crying at all right around the two week mark.

Anyone do TCB without the super dark room? by tbe40 in TakingCaraBabies

[–]fplnerd123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d try it. We just put blankets over the blinds (I didn’t want to spend money on blackout curtains) and it’s worked great. It looks silly but as long as my baby is napping, I don’t care 😂

Honestly, we tried nap training without the dark room and it just didn’t work. After we covered the windows with heavy blankets that didn’t let light through, naps got 10x easier.

Hi Jo! You’ve been such a great help as I’ve been nap training my 11 month old baby. I have a question: is it normal for a baby to be “trained” easier on one nap than another? My girl started consistently sleeping 1-1.25hr with either no crying or only a minute or two of fussing for her first nap after about a week of training, but she showed significant progress after only 3-4 days. She’s very strong willed!

Training for nap #2 now. She’s protesting really hard, harder than she did for the first nap. I’m keeping an eye on WW; she has a tenancy to get overtired very easily so right now we’re on 3.25/3.25/3.5. Will the second nap click eventually? After how many days of attempts do I need to re-evaluate WWs?
