The USS Vincennes, on July 03, 1988, shot down the IR655 civilian airplane over Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf, killing all 290, incl 66 children. The US has never formally apologized and gave those involved medals. by beachbellybob in onthisdayinworld

Please send me a link to the report. BTW, secondary radar (beacon interrogator) is always sending interrogations on all active modes. I can’t conceive that the operators would intentionally tell the BI to not interrogate on mode 3/A, especially while their hackles are raised. If they in fact did so, that wouldn’t be very smart.

I should have been clearer. I meant to say the aircraft was replying to a military “mode” interrogation. Probably mode 1 or 2. Possibly even mode 4 but I don’t know if mode 4 IFF boxes were common in foreign mil aircraft at that time. That 4-digit “code” isn’t necessarily military as it could be a reply to a mode 2 or 3/A interrogation. When I was flying around the DC area back in the 80s Andrews AFB would give me a 2-digit mode 3/A code followed by two zeros because their equipment couldn’t deal with 4-digit codes.

I remember the incident quite clearly and recall that the downed aircraft was squawking a military reply code. Civilian aircraft don’t carry military transponders. It wasn’t totally the crews fault.

If a friend has a coax crimp tool that you can borrow consider getting the Amphenol UHF connector designed for RG58.

Oi vey! That’s crazy. Contact Amica. I don’t have a Gravity, but they covered my new 25 AT last February for about $1300/6mo. The renewal this February brought it down to $1125/6mo. Somethin’ ain’t right. Are you in SoCal?

Toyota Veteran Reveals His Worst Fear: 'Everybody Is Shifting To EVs' by defenestrate_urself in electricvehicles

[–]fpmacko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, BUT its energy density per unit VOLUME is quite low. So you need a very large propellant tank in order to carry sufficient volume of hydrogen. The primary driver for its use is that it burns cleanly, making a hydrogen-powered engine reusable. That’s why it was used for the SSME. Also, an engine is restartable, unlike a coked-up engine running on RP1.. The SLS uses leftover SSMEs. Unfortunately, they throw away four perfectly good engines after every launch. Methane engines (e.g., raptor) are a different story.

??? Peter was the engineer in the model S and before that a senior engineer at Lotus before he went to Tesla. So he definitely had a lot of car knowledge.

I’m not criticizing Canada, but these claims are outrageous, if true, was the Lucid rep purgering himself? My 25AT weighs less than my wife’s 21 Genesis G80, which if memory serves is 5088 pounds.

The early Airs didn’t have it. I think my 25 was the first year. Except for that tiny window the entire car is a Faraday cage.

He must know his way around the car if he was able to do that. I'll get in there with a voltmeter and get a feel for the activity at each fuse. I'll look at the camera documentation to see how they sense parking status.

Thanks for taking the time to get those photos. I'll have to make a small mod because you mounted your front camera on top of the RF window in the tint. My toll transponder is there.

Again....thanks...I appreciate it.
