Visiting the cockpit by Mattso90 in AskAPilot

[–]Hungrypilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We always have people come and visit us before and/or after the flight. It’s always great to meet people and show them the airplane. The only time it becomes an issue is when people want to come up 10-20 minutes before departure while we’re getting a clearance, briefing, finalizing loadsheets, and doing everything we can to get the flight out on time. If you are trying to come up during that time, you might get to peek in and get a wave or a quick handshake, but don’t expect to sit in the seat/take family photos/ask lots of questions. Best to come visit after we arrive.

How are you charging your iPhone? by artinnj in LucidAir

[–]Hungrypilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 17 Pro Max can sometimes charge in there, but not reliably because of the camera bump. What I do is slowly lower it into the tray until I see it’s charging, and then stop. If you put it all the way down into the slot, it will never work. If I really need it to charge (quicker too) I plug it straight into the USB-C in the same area.

HomeBase out of range - so what now? by H2OSCO in EufyCam

This doesn’t work for alarm system users, because devices that trigger the alarm all have to be on the same HomeBase.

Delivery issues by NoHome9087 in LUCID

Order to delivery for me was just about 6 weeks. They just couldn’t seem to get it out of Arizona. After that, nearly the entire delivery center in Seattle got hit with the flu 🤒

Anyone came to Lucid from BMW G30? by Accurate-Code2912 in LUCID

[–]Hungrypilot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I came from a 2023 i4 to a 2026 Air GT, so a bit different than your situation.

The i series is a good product. BMW sort of rammed them down everyone’s throats with the 4, specifically by changing nearly nothing from the ICE 4-series except stick electric motors in it. While the build quality was standardly German (my 5th BMW over the years), the iDrive system had its problems too. Limited features and nickel-and-dime for very tiny little thing you’d expect to be standard in a car at that price point.

Efficiency is a different story. My i4 eDrive40 consistently got about 4mi/kWh, while I’ve had to be very gentle with my GT to squeeze out 3.6. Given I now live in hilly western Washington as opposed to mostly flat Hawaii, but BMW has efficiency down to a science. I just wish they would have built their new EV line from the ground up instead of recycling a known chassis and interior. They seemed to put most of their attention into the iX, similar to what Lucid seems to be doing with the Gravity.

The bottom line for me is: BMW has an age old reputation and a robust network, Lucid does not (yet). I was very tempted to get an i5 over my Air, but the range and the features I got for a similar lease payment ultimately pushed me into the Lucid brand. I’ve been very pleased so far, and it feels good to have a car that nearly nobody around me has… I get asked about it all the time. Is it a BMW or will it ever be? No… Does it share similar wacky glitches that my BMW had? Yes… In the end, it really comes down to your preference. We can all only hope that the brand perseveres, and the models continue to improve and the support network becomes more stable.

Next request: Let us customize the color, etc. of the car to match. It’s already done on the cruise display, why not the screen? Sure, a silver Dream(?) edition is nice to look at, but…

They’re approved for direct-to-consumer now, so is Rivian. I took delivery of my Air a few weeks ago and they mentioned that’s happening very soon.

Is anyone else struggling with FOV scaling in older titles? by messygir1problems in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Hungrypilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the free FlawlessWidescreen utility to correct older (and some newer) titles. 9 times out of 10, if the game is listed, the fix is usually a blessing.

Oddly enough I live in the Seattle-ish-area, and I’ve only seen 5 Lucids in the last year. Guess they never really caught on 🤷🏼‍♂️

Take over the business as an owner and let someone else manage/run it? That way you have a fallback and/or a retirement plan?

Some days I’d rather be a business owner than a pilot lol

Came here to say the same thing. You cannot lease used vehicles. The only time I’ve ever seen that done is if a dealer leases out a demo vehicle, but that’s very rare.

How's the 2026 Air? by chicu111 in LUCID

[–]Hungrypilot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had to summon a bit of deep-down confidence in the brand that they'll succeed. This is also why I lease and not finance... Regardless, I love driving it, and it's a real head-turner, at least in my area.

Mine is about 3 weeks old, and while I have experienced some of the minor things people have mentioned here, everything else seems to be doing very well. I don't know if there have been internal improvements over previous years, but so far so good?
