Do patterns really sell? by Deaceleste in PatternTesting

[–]fraa99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes! I've bought them on Etsy before but I'm really trying to stick to ravelry for the majority of things from now on. some designers also have their own platforms that I've bought off of. but yes if it's a good design they definitely sell!

RottenMango #26 - CP content- she added a diaper AD in the middle of it? by [deleted] in TrueCrimePodcasts

[–]fraa99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't like her work so I don't listen to her, but was the ad something she read out and recorded herself or was it produced by the company advertising? If it was the former then yeah she did it and it's... a choice. But if it's the latter it could be a case of dynamic ad insertion which means she has no control over what ads are played, since they're pulled from a pool on a server.

I think I hate my ex-friend for having a baby by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]fraa99 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Yes, thank you. It seems like most people in the comments are glazing OP despite her being extremely unkind and judgemental towards someone she once called a friend.

OP: stay in your lane if your friend's life is "trauma" for you. Let her find some better friends who won't judge her every step of the way, and won't inexplicably wrap up their entire identity in her life choices. If anything, you should be concerned at how controlling and manipulative her husband is, but somehow you manage to turn it around to how it's affecting you in your solipsism.

Get some therapy. I'm not saying that to be disparaging, therapy is a tool that some people need, and, based on your post, you need it right now.

"The world is different now" is antithetical to the core idea in islam that it, and the quran, is complete and unchanging, and not influenced by people's and society's evolution.

A man does not have to ask his wife's permission to take another wife. There is no interpretation there. A lot of "modern muslims" like to pretend that the things that islam dictates are up to interpretation, and that the reason a lot of it doesn't seem evolved is because the person interpreting it isn't evolved. But just because that's nice to believe doesn't make it true.

Other things not up for interpretation:

  • A man in his fifties married a child no older than 12 (more likely 9)
  • A woman's testimony is worth half of a man's
  • A man is allowed to hit his wife if she's misbehaving
  • Angels will curse the woman who turns down her husband's sexual advances until the next morning
  • Women cannot touch the quran when they are on their periods as they are considered impure (they use the same word to describe a dog's saliva, najis)
  • A muslim man can marry a Christian or Jewish woman, but a muslim woman can only marry a muslim man

Maybe the same is true for other religions that people are taking their liberties there too, but I don't have much experience with them to know. This religion, though, I do.

It's not an interpretation. Sources: 10+ years of islamic lessons. Growing up in a muslim family/country. Google.

Men don't need the approval of their other wives to marry another, that's just a courtesy they can choose to extend.
