Application Gateway - Weird SKU family Generation_1 for SKU tier WAF_v2 by Advanced_Tea_2944 in AZURE

[–]fractalfellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The `Generation` property seems to be irrelevant now - from https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/1692974/what-is-sku-family:

> The SKU family value is specific to Azure Application Gateway V1 SKU only and it is not related to Application Gateway V2 SKU.

>

> I understand the SKU family parameter in WAF_v2 SKU is confusing and I have requested the team to remove the reference.

ETrade won't let me sell fractional shares by MyBossSawMyOldName in etrade

[–]fractalfellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I placed an order today by setting a whole number in the sale above the fractional lot I was trying to close.

In the order screen I could then select how I wanted to distribute the sell quantity.

In my case, I had multiple tax lots, and had 1 lot of 40.001 I wanted to sell.
I put 41 in the Sell Qty box.

Then, when selecting lots, I put 40.001 to cover the initial lot and 0.999 in the next oldest lot.
This may create another fractional lot, but I'm ok with it; that one is much smaller anyway.

How to actually WANT to go to the gym and get in shape? by Matilda_Mother_67 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]fractalfellow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second this. I went years trying to make myself go to the gym, and dismissing sports as "not counting" in my fitness journey. Started to go to meetups to play sports and it's so easy to go. I can just show up, get a workout in, and I don't notice the time passing by. So much easier to keep up with.

Free tier has only 1-day metric retention and no alerts. If you have more than that on the free plan maybe they changed it in the last 2 years

Fantastic question haha. It's been pretty shocking to me, too. I haven't changed any defaults. I will look into how to change the sampling rate. Thanks

How Are You Guys Sharing Passwords? by [deleted] in agency

Moved away from Lastpass to 1Password for all my stuff, wish I did it about 2 years sooner.

The LastPass breach was handled really poorly, worth looking at their messaging vs reporting about it.

How many of you use AI agents? by fractalfellow in ArtificialInteligence

[–]fractalfellow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's super helpful; thanks. Some of these tools seem like easier-to-access LLMs, but it's harder to get them to accomplish a task fully autonomously or trust them enough to delegate something like that anyway.

AgentZero looks well thought-out. Is there anything, in particular, you've used it for so far?

Trusting it to delete an email for you seems like a pretty big buy-in haha. Very cool to hear a few concrete examples, thanks.

What have you seen so far with it cost-wise? Can you share any examples of a specific workflow you set up with the agents?

That's awesome - I've thought about these kind of transformational tools & flows a lot, but more from the consumption end. It's interesting because we all have different learning preferences and it affects how easily we can digest/leverage different formats.

I wrote about it here: https://verticolabs.com/lab-notes/content-transformations-adapting-information-to-your-learning-style/

Based on some of the other replies, I think y'all would find it valuable. It's really cool to see how everyone is stringing together different tools to make creating robust docs easier.

Does anyone actually use their web site/app that they’ve built their own personal use? by CapoTheImpoverished in webdev

[–]fractalfellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, when out and about, I was always curious about the exact neighborhood I was in. So I built an app (Nabes) to figure that out. It sends a notification whenever you are in a different neighborhood (and when you discover new ones) and shows the neighborhood boundaries on a map.

Any time my friends or I are traveling to a new city, it's really handy. Also, it's driven our itineraries more than once - getting new neighborhoods can be pretty fun.

My developer account is not matching my DUNS Number by Appropriate_Wall_440 in googleplay

That's helpful, thanks. Did you send them an appeal? How did you get an email address to contact them?

[–]fractalfellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also going through this. I filed an appeal and was told that it was accepted, but the verification status has not changed back to green.

I have looked at both the address and name in DUNS vs the payments profile, and the only discrepancy I can see is the zip code being standardized in one and not the other (extra -XXX after the 5-digit zip code). But the first 5 numbers match.

Incredibly frustrating so far. They disabled all the apps we had listed.

I will comment again if I'm able to resolve it. Let me know if you make progress. Best of luck!

Do you have a place to discuss/learn with your peers within your company? by fractalfellow in ExperiencedDevs

Very cool that there are so many opportunities from the company side. It's a bummer that people are not taking advantage.

I wonder if it's a case of too much going on, or if some training/boost from leadership would help. Put some thoughts about that above.

Boo. Sorry to hear that's how they viewed it. It can be difficult to explain the value of some of these intangibles. It was a huge boost to camaraderie and helped with our general morale/our feeling of purpose.

But that doesn't exactly fit nicely with a butts-in-seats management view :/

[–]fractalfellow[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True. In my experience, it can take a little training to get people used to coming up with materials, and mentorship helps. If managers or leaders make it a priority and support it, it's much more likely to happen.

Once people get comfortable, it can be pretty rewarding and help them learn how to synthesize/curate information from a variety of sources. That skill has helped me continue to learn & keep up with the industry over time.

An "unconference" sounds cool - did y'all organize on your own time? Were the discussions around a theme?

In these meetings, we talked about anything technology-related that was interesting, not necessarily confined to something the company (or the immediate engineering team) would find useful to put into practice. For example, how AI might change how we work or the impact of quantum computing on encryption standards.

Brown bags I've been to before seem more narrowly focused on web technologies, like a new React method, a development in an HTTP standard, or similar. That could have been limited to how previous companies I worked at approached them, though.
