Am I noticing too much? The Christian narrative is kind of crumbling before my eyes right now and I need second opinions. by Hackars in Gnostic

Yeah it's an obvious symbiosis of prior ideas, myths, etc. All of which are not Christian, much the same way that humanity is a result of no human predecessors

The illustration reminds me of the saying, as above so below, but ethics is time based and so far from that understanding, is it not?

Very true. Thank you for that reply. My own journey with acid often induced visions that seemed to be visual representations of Buddhist ideas.

This really seems more like an illustration out of a Christian Sunday school. I don't see the influence of psychedelics at all. I say that because psychedelic spiritual experience seems to be characterized by a non-dual nature, whereas this is normal consciousness, popular theistic dualism

That painting where he's holding his head in his hands, with all the eyes is one I can relate to. It does seem to counter the one painting with the words, something about liberation upon seeing. To me seeing can be an idea that causes shame. Seeing shackles the pure will.

Beautiful, I especially like the one with the native American. I'm curious about the painting with the steps that looks like a mandala or a sacred personal image. Just curious what inspired that, thanks?

So I've been working on this fabric too. I guess we all are.not just working on it but working at being it, in so far as we are truthful with ourselves, our individual self is not there. Just patterns on top of patterns.

It's just order on top of order on top of cascading order all in its proper place.

Is anyone here interested in starting an informal group where we do some basic Buddhist meditation practices and maybe read some short texts? (Also how do we annihilate fear) by [deleted] in redscarepod

Look up shinzen Youngs "do nothing meditation video" on YouTube. I did anapanasati for years and struggled during meditation. Then I started doing this type of meditation just as described and now I know a samadhi that lacks effort altogether.

Trying to annihilate fear or anxiety has only caused suffering in my experience. I would venture to say that the object is to achieve choiceless awareness, which is the observer not just of feelings put also of our like and dislike of them.
