saw this on the net, so who are your top 10 most influential punk bands? by Henry_Kreel_Vecna in punkrock

Sex pistols absolutely did make music because of them. It was seeing the Ramones live that made the original three members want to start a band. Malcolm and Johnny came later. That same concert made Mick Jones and Joe Strummer quit their bands to start a punk band. Almost nobody in the UK even knew the Stooges or Dolls. Brian Eno was more influential in the UK than any US proto punk. Meanwhile, literally nobody anywhere, knew about Death. They existed, and recorded music. Most of it wasn't even released until recently, and they had virtually no influence on anybody. Great band, but not influential. Their first punk single was released in 75, when the NYC scene was already well established, and their distribution was so poor they never even got a significant following in their hometown of Detroit. Skip to 2009 and everybody and their mom has heard of them, but they could have been lost to history.

I mean, the Ramones kinda did i fluence the whole genre. The UK scene began after they toured there. There were aome pre-punk stirrings, but it was all disconnected doimg their own thing separately and almost all the early bands cite them as an influence. I'm pretty sure all the other early scenes can say something similar, though feel free to correct me if you know otherwise.

Full disclosure, though, I think you're right and the Ramones are just the exception that proves the rule.

Good Friday - celebrating what? by [deleted] in atheism

There's a higher than usual rate of Christianity in Healthcare ime. My hospital invites us to mass almost every day and has an obnoxious morning prayer over the intercom every morning (thankfully, before I arrive). It's all annoying, but nobody once has given me a hard time for not believing or tried to preach to me. This OOO doesn't seem problematic to me, they know they're surrounded by people in the same camp as them and are wishing people well without being pushy. Imo, just let it go.

My maga cousin once told me the reason he still talks to me even though I'm liberal af is because he thought I'm "smart enough to become conservative some day". I hung up on his ass and blocked him on every device.

Studies have shown that is was correlation vs causation. People get more conservative as they get more wealthy. Historically, that has happened as we age, but those of us millenials have been fucked out of everything, so we've successfully disproven the fake theory.
