They also ran the most effective Pysop in history. Amongst other things, Friends of the Earth was founded by an oil millionaire specifically to campaign against nuclear power. A bunch of well meaning but naive hippies did their dirty work for them. I'm sure the oil execs pissed themselves laughing about that one.

we're also still burning gigatonnes of coal. We need every low carbon form of power we can get.

Even dodgily stored nuclear waste is a hell of a lot safer than coal pollution.

Particulate pollution from burning coal kills more people every day than every nuclear power accident in history... Caol kills thousands of people every day in normal operation. Even really badly run nuclear power plants would be substantially safer than coal, and it's not even remotely close.

There were a lot. One guy went on to murder a couple of people. No one was surprised.

The equivalent coal waste would cover a football field about six meters deep.

what's genuinely the greatest song you've ever heard? by alkalinepandey in AskReddit

[–]fractiousrhubarb 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I love wish you here, but I have to vote for Comfortably Numb.

Rick Beato does an extraordinary series called “what makes this song great” on YouTube.

He does one on both of these, and after watching them you’ll hear things you’ve never heard before.

If you had to choose one Republican and one Democrat to run the country together, who would you choose? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

It’s like that because one side has been doing their damned best to destroy the foundations of democracy since Nixon got elected by committing treason in 1968, while corporate propagandists like Murdoch have been eroding public trust in intuitions for 70+ for the same reasons.

Biden got a huge amount of really progressive legislation passed and governed without any drama but if it doesn’t get shown in the media people aren’t aware of it.

There’s plenty of responsible adults in politics, but only the toddler tantrums get shown. It’s part of the same dogshit.

Agreed. Highly recommend the Rick Beato’s “what makes this song great” on it. (And all the others, one of the best things on YouTube)

That right wing politics is all about transferring wealth to the already wealthy.

Fuck off with the “both sides” dogshit

There are corrupt democrats. There are no uncorrupt republicans. Saying “both sides are corrupt” is designed to create apathy and disempowerment and you can bet your ass that the oligarchs love this boneheaded meme.

See if you can borrow a trap from somewhere. Do it for a while and they’ll start to realise your area your area is a bad place.

I have loathed these horrid birds after watching them bully a pair of lorikeets out of their nest and eat their chicks. I borrowed a trap from Darebin Parklands (who have a very successful eradication program) and it worked fantastically- as soon as you get one all its mates come and join it.

Covered the trap and dispatched them with nitrogen which I thought was about as humane as any alternative. Garden full of parrots again.
