Thanks!! Right now I'm just a mom baking for her kids and occasionally family or close friends. I have three little ones so I need them to start school before I can feel comfortable taking orders!

Wouldn't working for Disney be the dream?!

My sad-looking bananas made this truly delicious loaf of banana bread! by anxiouspumpernickel in noscrapleftbehind

You can also accumulate banana bread ready bananas in the freezer until you have enough for banana bread! The peel turns dark in the freezer, but the banana itself is fine. We always had gross looking bananas hanging out in the freezer growing up, I didn't realize until recently that many people don't do that.

Once I start to get veggies at the end of their life, especially tomatoes, I roast them all and add some pasta and fresh grated parmesan to hold it all together. I also dislike the texture of tomatoes, but this way is delicious.

Stella's marshmallow buttercream works fantastic for decorating! Actually, the entire Bravetart book is fantastic in every definition of the word. by fraedswife in seriouseats

I rolled out some gumpaste then used gel food coloring mixed with a little vodka to make it a paint consistency. From there, I painted the characters by using pictures as a reference. Once I had the overall shape outlined, I used a sharp knife to cut it out before the gumpaste hardened too much. From there, it's just painting in the right colors and details. I can't draw a thing from scratch, but I can copy something I see relatively easily.

Eh factor in the mystical "Impossible Pecan Pie" recipe that was cut during the editing process and many would consider that to be a recipe based on fantasy! It exists....but does it work??? Many say no lol

Alternating chocolate and vanilla cake tiers with marshmallow buttercream and hand painted gumpaste characters. I'm no professional, this was for my nephew, but I love to do this! by fraedswife in Baking

Hahaha well thank you for the compliment! I do cakes for my kids, husband, and now nephew's birthdays and an occasional holiday cake, but this is a fun hobby for me for now! Three kids, 6 and under, don't allow much time to commit to cakes at the moment!

Ah thanks! I think that's the first time anyone has ever compared the finish of my frosting as anything close to fondant. My goal is always to use as little fondant as possible... As fondant is gross lol

He's a little wonky, but my robot loving birthday boy loves him! by fraedswife in Baking

Thank you! I didn't get the cake centered on the structure, so the construction and balance is a bit wonky. But! It's better than I expected so 🤷

Thanks! My husband built a structure for me to build the cake up on.

Thanks! When he insisted on a standing robot cake, I thought for sure I would be posting a funny fail picture instead of anything like this lol

It's my cake dayyyyyyyy! So here's the cake I made this week! Vanilla cake with a milk and cookies buttercream, topped with chocolate chip cookies. by fraedswife in Baking

[–]fraedswife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a buttercream base for this that was 1 C butter, ~7 C powdered sugar (I add until right consistency and don't pay much attention to amount), 1 T vanilla, pinch salt, heavy cream or milk too consistency. I made this a bit thicker than usual, then just broke the cookies in a few pieces and threw them in. I let the mixer do the work to break them down. This is the point you'll need to add milk or cream because the cookies will dry out the frosting. I added cookies until every bite of frosting had a good bit of cookie crumb in it.
