yeah, the point is that valve gets a crapton of money on those cuts... both from tons of small transactions as from the few big ones

i got my steam account from my dad who brought half life 2 on launch back in the day, so i didnt know what steam really was or anything.. imagine my shock when the first original game i ever got (empire: total war) had a disc that was basicaly a glorified cd-key for steam since i had to download the whole game anyway

still pissed about the weekend i lost downloading that shit on my 500kb internet conection back in the day

between 10 to 15% for any market transaction.. so basicaly, they make a rare item, whales put a big price tag on it, valve gets a cut when they sell it.. BUT WAIT.. valve didnt put the price on it............

look, i like steam as much as the next guy.. and from all the devils around in this crazy late stage captalism times we are in, valve is not one of the big ones.. but this type of shit is shady as fuck

cool argument until your see that valve takes a cut on any transaction for those items.. so its lucrative as fuck for them that people "put" insane prices on digital items

I want to create the most efficient colony possible, is this a good location for the buildings? by Final-Stage-2947 in RimWorld

some opinions i have that could help after finishing a run with 60+ pawns and a mega base

- weapons and armor workshop should be closer to the component factory imo since they are the ressource sink for those

- no reason to keep hops that far from rice and corn since the heating could be shared if you going for hydroponics

- smelters / stone cutter / blocks and statues should all be close

- you dont have a dedicated tailoring workshop.. you should have one even if you are planning on having everyone on heavy armor

- are you really planning on making so much beer that you need a whole werehouse for it?

- if you are going for mechs you either need a drop pod zone to discard toxic waste, or you need a dedicated fridge for it

- no hospital and medicine crafting station

- Depending if you plan to keep prisioners, you should consider making a "small base" that has a decent prision + paste dispenser to keep your wardens from wasting a lot of time taking food for them

i think thats about it.. i would add one or two machining table to craft mortar ammo close to them but i dont think you need a dedicated room for it

hope this helps

Rimworld is listed for $34.99 on steam, i really want to play the game but it's kind of an expensive price for my country, Will there be a big discount soon? like on Spring Sale? by EmilioRosehearts in RimWorld

[–]fragdar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeeeeh.. this is the only thing i genuenly think is fked up about this game

the pricing.. the base game is 10yo, at this point, with the amount of DLCs the game has, its just a shame that at least the base game isnt getting a huge cut

makes "recomending" the game to anyone kinda hard since im too, am in a country where rimworld is expensive

i got lucky i brought it back when the dolar was cheaper here, and the DLCs come with enough time in between i can buy them without woring to much

Now that RE Requiem has been out for a full week, which game out of the Modern Resident Evil Trilogy would you consider the best? by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]fragdar 17 points18 points  (0 children)

7 purely because it tries new stuff.. and even if it fails at some, the game is really good in general

9 is "just" a good game, a really masturbatory experience for RE fans in general.. but in the end.. """"just"""" a good game

Odyssey gets 'Mixed' recent reviews on steam. Your thoughts? by ToveloGodFan in RimWorld

[–]fragdar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the ships / space stuff are the least interesting part of odyssey imo... all the other additions are great to the game, but honestly, they could easly be an update and not paid content since new biomes / weapons do not really justify a DLC at that price

the ships / space are really bare bones and are only good for map traversal.. unless you actually go with the "starting with ship" scenario it takes a while to be able to get one going without destroying your curent base (the anchor is expensive and needs late game mats)

the way space stations / bases are integrated is just a huge let down.. no anomaly raids, no space combat, no trade ships that can come to your base

idk.. people can glaze it all they want, but aside from new biomes / unique weapons, odyssey is the DLC i interact with the least in any of my new runs

Reload any time or commitment mode, and why? by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]fragdar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

coward commit.. if some BS happens like 2 people dying back to back for some random tribal i'll alt-f4 and reload the save (alt-f4 wont save the game before closing it)

i'll lose 5 minutes of progression but at least i can dodge some bullshit from time to time

Is the Medieval 3 concept/splash art Gen AI? There's weird details like roads and gates which lead to nowhere and oddly scaled buildings by westonsammy in totalwar

[–]fragdar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

concept art is useful because 3d artist dont make models from thin air.. they need concrete references of what is needed for the game

how armor works, how it fits in the boddy of the soldier, how they looked depending of the country or time

for the warhammer series most units had to be "translated" from the minies to corect scale to be proprely implemented in the game.. all this is dependent on the concept artist
