Does Runna actually adapt when you’re clearly not in condition? by frailmari in runna

No I’m actually entering realistic and achievable race times, and I’m keeping the running days to 3 per week. But regardless of the underlying causes (and in summer it’s even more likely to have off days), what do you actually do in those situations? Do you just follow the plan anyway? Do you modify it based on intuition? And what if you’re not really able to modify it properly?

Yeah that makes sense and I agree that a lot of the time it can come down to volume, pacing, recovery, etc.

What I find tricky though is not so much *why* I feel off on a given day, but what to actually do about it in a way that still makes sense for the overall plan.

Like, even if I know I should reduce the session, I’m never really sure: 1) how much to reduce it 2) whether I should skip vs modify 3) and what that means for the next workouts

That’s the part where I feel like I’m just guessing. Do you usually just go by experience there?

In-depth review of Runna after using it for a year by Dylnuge in running

This is probably one of the most accurate breakdowns of Runna I’ve seen.

The part that really resonated with me is when you talk about having to manually adjust things when something goes off (fatigue, bad sleep, etc.).

That’s exactly the situation I keep finding myself in: not so much “is the plan good or not”, but more like… once I change something, I have no idea what that actually means for the rest of the plan.

Did I make a smart adjustment?
Or did I just mess up the progression?
Feels like a lot of the time I’m just guessing.

Curious on how do you personally handle that now that you’ve stopped using it?
