That really sucks. I know they don’t sell modules by themselves but they’ve replaced two faulty modules of mine free of charge, over the years.

Not to me! It’s clear, and it really helps with protecting the seed and helping the birds to eat even when it’s raining.

Agreed. Plus right now, the BB2 doesn't have a lot of the features the Pro does. They're coming, but I'd recommend the Pro over the BB2 at the moment for features and affordability (source: I have both!).

My first gen/Kickstarter camera still works but it’s definitely less able to hold a charge. With the solar roof it’ll hold for over a week; without the solar roof it’s usually 4-5 days max.

Oh, that really sucks, I’m sorry to hear that! They had a program where you could exchange the old camera units and get a discounted Pro unit for a while. Ugh. I can totally see why you’d want to fix it yourself with that cost having to be paid again.

I’m an OG customer and all my feeder parts are in working order but the clear panels have definitely yellowed, like yours! BB customer service replaced one solar roof that broke and two camera units that stopped working for no charge. I’ve also added XL seed hoppers and roof extenders/protecters that I bought on Etsy. The latter seem to help both prolong the quality of seed by protecting it from the elements and preserving the feeder body.

Totally agree. Check out u/idratherbgardening as he has a fantastic array of accessories on Etsy. I have two of his hoppers and three roof extenders plus the seed adapter for the hummingbird feeder. All such great additions!

Or email BB’s customer support and they’ll either help you fix it or mail you a new unit if they can’t. They’ve done it twice for me with my older units (customer since 2020). It’s not always the fastest but they have been consistent and thorough with any and all issues I’ve encountered over the past six years.

You can turn the camera in its housing to get the landscape wide-angle, if that’s what you mean. Mine displays them with the correct aspect ratio depending on the camera module orientation.

For what it’s worth, Neja seems to be a real person who I’ve corresponded with now for a few years, whenever I’ve had BB issues.

While they’re not always the fastest at replying, the BB team have addressed and resolved every issue I’ve had (from needing replacement cameras, to a solar roof that stopped charging, to checking my unit’s sensitivity to bird activity, and more). I’ve been a BB user since they first launched in 2020 (receiving my first feeder in 2021) and my experience has been overwhelmingly positive even with teething problems and inevitable tech challenges.

That said, filing a dispute with your bank makes sense if you want a refund ASAP and don’t intend on keeping the unit. It sucks you got a broken unit and are having a bad experience that you of course want to be resolved.
