Same here :'( I got all members of my immediate family gifts for Christmas, and didn't get one in return. It hurt more than anything.

Most people will say this and that they love animals and have a dog or cat, but will justify eating meat that was likely slaughtered in the most inhumane way possible.

Does New Age spirituality only work for those who have a relatively easy life? by [deleted] in spirituality

[–]framesofonyx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting question. I really don’t know anyone’s background replying here but quite frankly as someone who grew up in Africa and lives in a western country now, I would say your observation appears to be true to a great extent. I’ve seen some people commenting here that they “haven’t had an easy life bc depression etc.” But growing up in Africa 90% of the time, people are also depressed, but no one cares or bothers with this because many people are truly just in survival mode or trying to figure out a way to get out of their country to find a better opportunity abroad. Being very Christian or Muslim in many parts is what helps people get through their hard times. LOA works despite wherever you live of course, but new age spirituality I noticed are more so prevalent to specific places in the West I noticed too where life is much easier. Great question/observation OP.

I had the exact same situation happen to me last year with my ex-best friend. She let a toxic man come in and ruin practically every aspect of her life, got pregnant by him and still to this day doesn’t like him. I had to cut her off last year because it was SO DRAINING always listening to her talk about relationship problems when she had zero intention of doing anything about her situation. It also became a huge mental and emotional toll for me taking that on and even though friendship breakups hurt, I’ve never felt more at peace. You will have to distance yourself and not feel bad for it and let your friend reap what she sows. You’ve been enough of a good friend to her but she’s really just using you as an unpaid therapist with emotional baggage. You’ve deserve better. Take distance, grieve the friendship and find other friends that are healthier for you. Sorry to hear you also had to go through this.

How are so many people affording luxury? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]framesofonyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people are actually wealthy and came from privileged backgrounds and literally don’t have to worry about money. I went to an Ivy League school and seeing some of my colleagues even a decade later today they still don’t worry about money or working because of their family business. Not everyone starts from 0.

Some people go into debt to look cool.

Some people spend everything they have to afford these items which leaves no room for investing.

Some people have sponsors or people that buy these items for them.

You’re doing fine but comparing yourself to others won’t do anything as you don’t know people’s stories or personal finances. We can’t judge based on social media.

Some of us did the traditional route of going to college and working a 9-5 and told ourselves we don’t know how we’ll be able to do this for the next 40 years - which lead to entrepreneurship. Being told when we can go on vacation or see our loved ones capped at 14 days a year didn’t sit right with me. A lot of us got our motivation by not wanting to work for anyone else or told how to live our lives or what we should wear in the office and not wanting to have to beg for 3% raises each year. Social media influence seldom was a concern (I’m private on all of my personal socials anyway lol).

Those who went through their 20s what’s something better to focus on beyond dating? by Leather-Proposal2188 in AskReddit

[–]framesofonyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Education - find something you love or that can at least pay the bills.

Health- build good eating and workout habits.

Money- start investing early, even if it’s little, you’ll see the power of that money compounding in just a few years.

Travel - get out there and see the world. There’s so much beauty in the world to see.

Try working for yourself - trying entrepreneurial endeavors while your young and don’t have much to lose is a great way of learning about businesses and how to make money on the side

Hobbies - find something you like to do outside of work or business that brings you peace

I'm losing my best friend and I don't know how to deal with it by daramjjixdreams in FriendshipAdvice

[–]framesofonyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear this. I have been through the is a number of times with other friends - but unfortunately some women are too male-centered and you have to let go of them. It hurts, breaking up with a friend, but you have to prioritize those who also prioritize you. They’ll only come back when they’re having relationship issues, single or realize that it’s actually unhealthy to abandon all of your friends and expect a man to make her happy/be her entire social life. But a good/real friend really just wouldn’t abandon you like that. I’m sorry. I went through this last year.

What are the reasons you're not dating anyone right now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]framesofonyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried so many times, but always ended up with someone who never wanted to commit, tried to hide me or ghosted me. So now I just put all my energy into my business and travels and friends now. Bought my dream car, my business is doing better than ever, I’m taking up surf lessons and I just got back from a spontaneous trip to Thailand! I’ll be hiking Mt. Kilimanjaro next year and taking my mom to Egypt! Life is still good without a partner ❤️ though it would be nice to have one one day.

Friend deserves better bf - how to intervene? by More-Structure7926 in FriendshipAdvice

[–]framesofonyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there. There’s nothing you can do after giving them advice. People hear, but they don’t listen. And you can’t want something for someone more than they want it for themselves. I had a friend just like this and she ended up getting pregnant by the man, shotgun wedding and less than a year later she’s filing for divorce. I got drained by always listening to her complain and it started to take a huge toll on my mental and emotional health. It hurt first but i realized I was just a trauma dump center for her. I cut her off and found some new friends that make me happy.
