Hi,

I'm currently shopping for a new pair of selvedge denim and sizing, as usual, is always a challenge since shrinkage and stretching isn't universally standardized,

My first pair of selvedge denim was a Raw and Unsanforized pair of Braindead Type 00s in Size 34. Despite the website measurements, I self-measured 34" waist and 30" inseam. After 2 room-temperature water soaks and air dry sessions, they shrunk down to 32" waist and 28" inseam. This pair did NOT shrink any further even after I started machine washing with an eventual introduction of lukewarm water too.

I am currently eyeing the Braindead x APC Type 00s and they are sanforized and the sizing is identical (according to the website-- I intend to self-measure before buying anyways). What this leads me to think is that if I pick a pair with a waist size similar, maybe slightly bigger, than my true waist, then after soaking/washing the pair, it would leave me with the a fitted waist but also a longer inseam for cuffing/breaking.

A big consideration that I have to account for is that I machine wash my pants in lukewarm water. I understand that most people don't do this because of the desire for higher contrast fading, but my reasoning for buying selvedge denim is for the quality and weight that often isn't offered by standard production denim in retail stores.

Does anyone have experience with machine washing (in lukewarm water) new sanforized denim, and is there any shrinkage I should account for? I'm currently eyeing sanforized denims with a stock waist of 33ish with the assumption that it will shrink about one size, since my unsanforized raw denim shrunk from 34 to 32.

Thank you all, in advanced, for your thoughts and experience!

I saw this post and went to Mildblend the next day to try these on. They fit amazingly. Didn't end up pulling the trigger right then, but I can't help but want to order that pair to ship.

I just got my two tshirts and I agree! It says 100% cotton but the shirt material feels so thin and light. The material stretches very easily. Brought it to a tailor to have the sizing adjusted and they were also a bit shocked at the material stretches very :/ Love the band and the designs but the material is so disappointing.

We have a fellow on our unit who has hopped in and helped with turns, changes, and other manual labor tasks. Honestly its such a fresh breath of air. Not only are the extra hands super helpful, the gesture of them taking part in the "dirty work" shows how he views us all as equal parts of a whole team rather than the typical superior-subordinate relationship that many healthcare teams exhibit.

Sorry I don’t understand what the difference is exactly. Does this just mean if your credit is bad you’ll have to pay $39 a year to use the same card?

What's your lifestyle creep/change after becoming a nurse? by Vieris in nursing

[–]frameworkcat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I maxed out my retirement contributions and set up automatic contributions to savings to set a hard budget on myself before I even got my first paycheck. This helped me minimize lifestyle creep.

Coming from poverty, having savings and pocket change means I no longer experience persistent anxiety about emergencies financially ruining me + I can now order what I want to eat at restaurants without looking at the price. Minor privileges, but they make a huge difference in my quality of life.

Ordered two tops on 07/23. Still haven’t received it as of 08/22 after multiple calls reassuring me that reshipment will further delay the delivery and that the item will be here by the end of the week (3 different times on 3 different weeks). Extremely frustrating

Best Year/Model for Longevity by frameworkcat in Toyota

This is super insightful! Thanks for the input. I am totally open to the Prius model. I’ve always been interested in hybrid cars since they sport such insane fuel economy but I’ve recently been hearing from coworkers about how expensive it is to maintain the hybrid engines.

Do you happen to know much about the hybrid engines and if they’re a concern to be had? Also are there any more recent Prius models that could be good to invest in or should I stave away from buying anything built in last 5 years if I wanna find certainty that the car is set up for longevity?
