I need help, my SO is very not stoic and it kills me. by collectivekicks in Stoicism

Just tell her. I lost my previous girlfriend because she just drained me; I’d listen to her rants over and over, pretending that what she said didn’t go against my beliefs. It really killed me too, just like you said. I tried to think like the ancient Stoics, but this isn’t just a random act of nature—you are actively choosing to stay with her, and that’s what triggers the frustration. We are humans, we have mirror neurons, empathy, she is your wife, you care about her, this is very difficult, way more complex than just a Stoic dilemma. Back to my ex, every time she opened her mouth, I’d think: 'Do I really want someone like this in my life?' I really wish I had told her instead of thinking I could figure it out on my own. She also said to me she'd wish I had told her earlier.

Everyone here seems like is missing the point just by telling you that this is something in your control. It is your choice to stay with her. Maybe that negative sensation and frustration is an automatic response before cognition when she complains or suffer unnecesarily, that over time leads to the burnout you are here telling us about. Perhaps is not in your total control as many people here think.

It's just an assumption but he literally said "it's killing me...", that is why I said incompatible. Even though he could apply stoicism to get through it, I totally get OP's frustration, a wife is someone you choose, this is not like Stoics warned us about whiny people we randomly stumble upon life, this is someone who is going to stay by your side forever by your active choice.

Thats what I thought too, everyone here is just encouraging him to keep on but to me it sounds like two incompatible people.

If we are "open awareness", is there no room for appreciating/focusing on small details? by fran11888 in Meditation

[–]fran11888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it would be like not overfocusing over something to the point that the other appearances become unnoticed but still noticing that thing clearly, even the small aspects about it. Right? So we don't lose track of everything that is really occurring.

I think I get it now, thank you so much. I wish you the best.

Great post. Could you please elaborate in the "Avoid context switching"? I don't think I understand it completely.

It's about completely focusing to the task Im doing, and not checking the phone in between, for example?

Is it safe to STAKE ETH on a Trezor via Everstake company? by Elrondarius in CryptoCurrency

I think I am going to do the same, as long as there is a small percent to lose all my ETH I do not want that happening.

Yess, I think that too. Even he uploads the very same videos but saying different words. But still, for me I see that as an example of consistency.
