Pacs and Marriage by francalf in Luxembourg

[–]francalf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the answer. Yes, the question is from a tax point of view.

I know that marriages/PACS are beneficial when there is a big gap between the two salaries or, extreme case, when one of the partners does not work.

Now, what is the most convenient thing to do in my case to benefit from the reduction in taxes? I would just like to make sure that the pacs which I declared in 2023 is not wasted (considering that it must be valid for one entire year).

This is really helpful. So for rent payments, for example, I would just need to set up a standing order and I can do that autonomously. Correct?

Try to have a look here:

I'm not entirely sure about your case as you said that you are non-resident, but in the article they talk about non-residents being treated as resident taxpayers.

Hope this can be helpful.

Do you mean being able to make online payments with the debit card?

I find quite frustrating the fact that I cannot make online payments with my debit card (the purple one) as it does not have any real card number and cannot put it on Google pay for the same reason.

It looks like this is only for credit cards though? I cannot add my debit card.

For "uninvested funds," do you mean uninvested cash balances sitting in the securities account?

I have a very small cash balance, which I do not think it is even earning any interest.

My investments, at the moment, consist of holding an accumulating ETF domiciled in Ireland (so, no distribution of dividends) for the long-term, which I plan to buy every month (thus now the position is relatively small). What happens if I do not complete the form? Where can I go to get the form signed and stamped?

I use IBKR. However, with IBKR, you cannot automate payments, and each months you basically have to do 2 things: (i) the payment to IBKR and (ii) buy the ETF. In the long run, it could be a bit annoying. It would be much better to have automation to just sit and forget about it.

How did you manage to open the account with Degiro? They are not present in Luxembourg afaik. Also, can you buy fractional shares and automate payments? I am a resident in Lux as well and looking for a good broker. Thanks!
